The history of legislation regarding spirits, wine and beer in Texas has been a tortured one. Which reminds me of a story.

You know why you can't take a Baptist fishing with you?
He will drink all your beer.
You have to take two so they keep an eye on each other.

For example, Texas is the only state in the union that does not allow a brewery to sell beer. You read that right the first time. However, September 1 that will change. You will be able to take the tour, sample the beer and buy a case to take home. And it will be possible to have home delivery. How enlightened.

Not only will this be a boon to craft beer enthusiasts and existing micro-breweries, it makes it easier for new breweries to start on a shoestring. Life in Texas just got even better.

One of the complaints about the ClipiTool Standard is
the slip joint can opener "slips" when opening a can.
So today, I tried out something on a couple of different cans.

Number one, when the can opener was operated in a clockwise manner around the can,
backing up if you will, it did not have a tendency to slip.

Number two, the index finger can be placed under the can opener finger choil
to reduce the chance of slipping.

Number three, on a short can like a tuna can if you work on the edge of the counter
where your hand is free to descend below the counter top
there is plenty of clearance for one's knuckles.

Don't pay the ransom, I escaped !
It's been grim around here and don't worry. I have not gone on the wagon.
For you youngsters in the audience, that refers to the Temperance Wagon
and the movement leading up to prohibition. But I digress.

It's difficult finding new alcoholic beverages in my hometown.
It's so small we don't even have a town drunk.
We have to take turns.

Then I saw this big pink 30 pack with a flamingo on it.
So I decided to take one for the team and try it out.
If you do not like the taste of beer but like strawberry lemonade,
it means you are a chick. Oh come on. That was funny.

Chicks will love this brew. Just keep refilling her festive stemware
until her clothes fall off. You look marvelous darling.

This is the third year Keystone Light has had the hunt for the legendary orange can.
The standard can is blue.
The previous two years, I scored an orange can after drinking about 100 cans of beer.
This year I scored the "ultra rare Blaze can" on the first 30 pack.
But Keystone has upped the ante by adding gold and silver cans.
The only thing a person can win is bragging rights.
Now I gotta find those other two cans.

Sumerian is the oldest linguistic record, and those Mesopotamians knew how to brew beer.
The brewing company of the same name in craft-beer rich Washington state knows how, too,
with this Silver Award Winner in the Best of the Northwest and Washington Beer Awards.
Lord knows I needed some of this.

Eureka ! I found a silver can. Now all I need is the gold can to collect all four.
It's a beautiful day, sunny cold and windy. I had to pour some of the beer back into the can
to keep the can from blowing away.

At 8.5% alcohol by volume, one is indeed stepping onto a slippery slope.
As much as I like beer, some high ABV brews become almost undrinkable.
Maybe it would be better if I was at their tavern in Bluffton, South Carolina
pairing it with a hamburger.

A turn for the bitter.

Sumerian's Gold Award winning double-hopped IPA may be a more sessionable 5.6% ABV,
but at 95 IBUs (International Bittering Units) one really has to like their hops.
Tasty, but in the immortal words of Dirty Harry,
"A man's got to know his limitations."
