I'd wager the Dodo is probably the least used mainline production knife ever in Spyderco's catalog due to the blade steel and how difficult it is to sharpen properly and reliably. Certainly none of the two dozen+ examples I've seen in real life had any significant wear. I've never seen any examples online with real wear like you see Delicas/Enduras. I carried and used my PE Dodo heavily for years and it took a huge amount of time to sharpen it while maintaining the blade profile. Worse than the Kris even.

Anyway, as far as alternate blade shapes, these concepts were posted here several years ago but I'd love to see them come to fruition (in addition to the regular sinusoidal blade shape back in production!). The spearpoint model would be phenomenal with a full flat grind and a mirror edge. Apologies to the creators of these images, my notes were decoupled from my images at some point.

This is why I say the q ball is the better knife. Longer blade. Easier to sharpen. And it takes up less space in the pocket.

It would be nice, but these pretty much exist already as the Q Ball and Poliwog.
A tiger has claws.
A wolf has teeth.
An eagle has talons.
We, have Spyderco.

Neither the Q-ball nor the Poliwog fit the hand as well as the Dodo, they're much different knives that IMO don't cut nor carry as well. The short blade of the Dodo has always been a primary asset. I can carry it pretty much anywhere without a second glance and it has much higher cutting ability than a knife with a blade/handle ratio closer to 1:1. The Dodo is really in a class of it's own, similar to the Lava.

I'm also still holding out hope that they will at some point take my Suggestion for a Larger Scale DODO model. If you had a Dodo with a blade about an inch longer and about 3/4ths of an inch wider that would be a beast of a hard use folder. Especially if they were to do the Dodo in full Spyderedge again.

But if even if they don't consider that idea I do think that the Spyderco company are cheating themselves by not offering the Dodo model in full SE. That specialty folder is a little beast in SE. Oh it's nice in PE but in SE there isn't a package or clam pack or sealed Pallet on the planet that an SE Dodo couldn't open up.

Truly this is something to consider.
