The PITS - Get One Before They Are Gone!
I ended up buying a PITS the end of 2017 at a close out price. Wow! This is an awesome knife! It is gorgeous. Great ergos. I was pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended. Best non-locking ever! Blade HQ is out. Knife Center still has them.

I’ll give that a big second. I got a blue PITS at the second sale on close out. Greatest Spydie surprise for me in 2017. I’m very happy with it. It’s lightweight, fast in hand and has great ergos. It’s a home run.

Can you close it one-handed? Not interested in any folding knife I cannot operate completely one handed and this one just looks difficult to do that. Maybe it is easy and I just don’t understand how. Can you enlighten me on this point? Besides that I really dig it.

I agree, the Pits rocks. It's light for a full ti folder, and the ergos are very very good. I bought a plain Ti one initially, and a blue one as backup.
It can be easily closed with one hand, similar to the UKPK, with a thumb on the spine.

I can't close it one-handed. Not sure if any non-locks can be close one-handed.Flipping Addict wrote:Can you close it one-handed? [EDIT] Yes - if you close it against your leg it can be done.
Re: The PITS - Get One Before They Are Gone!
I can't comment on the PITS because I don't own one but I can close my UKPKs and Urbans, as Bloke mentioned, by pushing on the spine to start the blade closed then using the thumbole to finish. I don't think I'd enjoy the slip-joints as much if I had to use my leg to close them.dreadpirate wrote:I can't close it one-handed. Not sure if any non-locks can be close one-handed.

If I'm not mistaken, this issue was addressed in the slipit design with the half-stop. I think it's safe to close one handed.

Yes, you can close it one handed. Push the spine with your thumb. I leave my index finger under the guard to keep it from fully closing as it doesn’t have a half stop. Adjust hands, and fully close it. Easier than a compression lock.BrianMcCord wrote:If I'm not mistaken, this issue was addressed in the slipit design with the half-stop. I am going to backpedal a bit and now state that I can open and close the PITS with one hand after some practice. So there you go. No reason not to get one :)

Can't say I've ever been disappointed by any Spyderco knife I've bought and I'm sure this one will not be the first. :)dreadpirate wrote:The more I carry this knife, the more I like it. You will not regret it sir!holeshot wrote:Well, this thread broke me down. Just ordered one from DLT. :)

Wow. What a knife! My first one arrived today, and I am impressed.
Re: The PITS - Get One Before They Are Gone!
Ditto me on that! Mine came today and it is a beautiful knife. Great ergos and the titanium scales are perfect and I love the blue color. Like the post says, get one while you still can. :)lunde wrote:Wow. What a knife! My first one arrived today, and I am impressed.

Re: The PITS - Get One Before They Are Gone!
One particularly nice attention-to-detail feature of this knife is that it is ships with a small rectangular-shaped clear plastic sheet between the frame and where the pocket clip touches the frame. This is nice for people like me who routinely remove the pocket clip, and prefer not to see from-the-factory scuff marks on the frame where the pocket clip touched it.
Re: The PITS - Get One Before They Are Gone!
I ordered one thanks to this thread and I just wanted to say thank you to all of you enablers out there. Mine came in on Tuesday and I am pleasantly surprised. I would have completely passed on this knife because it is a slipjoint and it would have been a mistake. It is really an outstanding knife in every way. The title says it all.
Do right always. It will give you satisfaction in life.

Re: The PITS - Get One Before They Are Gone!
Agreed. This knife just feels and looks great. Very thin behind the edge too.
Re: The PITS - Get One Before They Are Gone!
Picked one up from KC. Very good quality. My only complaint is the edge around the hole is fairly sharp. Would have been nice if Spyderco did some chamfering to relive the sharp edge.
