Spyderco Knife Of The Year 2017

#1

Post by Liquid Cobra »

First off I would like to thank and apologize to Johnnie1801 because I’m borrowing/stealing his formatting from his best knife of the year 2016 thread. He did a great job, and I saw no reason to reinvent the wheel. It also saves a lot of time.

Link to Johnnie1801’s original thread:

viewtopic.php?t=72863

Which Spyderco knife be crowned knife of the year?

Rules are simple
1. One vote per member
2. You can vote for any Spyderco knife (You don't need to own it or have handled it) so long as it was released in 2016
3. Voting will be closed on 7th January and winner revealed

Also a big thanks to Ramzar for keeping such a great list going year after year.

There's a lot of great choices in that list! It's a tough decision but my vote goes to the Sliverax.

Hard decision for me. It's between the HAP40 Caly and the K390 Police 4........ I'm gonna leave this posts undecided for now. I will edit after more thought.

After serious consideration, the 4th Gen Police is my pick for 2017 KOTY

Sliverax.

I don't really think of sprints/exclusives/variants as being knife of the year because they already existed in other forms. You wouldn't see Blade giving out that type of award for a steel variant.

My singular choice would be Native5 CPM-S90V Fluted Carbon Fiber. I'm glad this Zombie was resurrected. Very light, gorgeous linerless milled CF and great steel.

Honarable mention goes to the advancement of Maxamet and LC200N steels.

Tough one for sure, I'll go with most anticipated for me, Military CPM-S90V TI CF with R.I.L. Lock KnifeWorks with the 52100 PM2 a close second.
Happy to be part of this great forum and group of down to earth spyderco addicts, Thanks Sal and gang.

I'm torn between the Pakkawood Delica and the Caly3, but I'm going to give my vote to the Caly3 Hap40 Sprint.

I think the Sliverax will do very well here, and if it wins I will have an excuse to buy one.

Sliverax.

Maybe not perfect, but so unique. The combination of aesthetics, innovative design elements, slim profile in the pocket, and ergos/how it cuts put it out in front for me.

The pocket jewelry and couch-fiddling factors are also very high. $$ ;) :p

Honorable mentions in particular to the Lefty Para2 and Chaparral lw.
