Needing something special

#1

Post by i am travvy »

As some of you know, my girlfriend and I are expecting our first child. His due date is in February and that time is quickly approaching. Some think that the hardest thing to pick out is the name.. which we have chose for his name to be Fynn. Right now the hardest thing I’m having to pick out is which spydie to cut the cord with! I’m wanting it to be something kind of special. Possibly something to hand down to him when he gets older. Definitely looking for something with a thin blade thickness, a good slicer. What do y’all suggest? I’m kind of hoping the super blue caly jr is released before then or maybe some of the hap 40 calys will be left in a few weeks? Decisions decisions..

Something carbon so it'll stain, and leave it on there forever.

I have a friend named Fenn. It has served him well. Super blue is the answer you seek with 52100 plan b.

Too many options to list but I would go with something discontinued or a cool/rare sprint or limited. Something really cool to hand down in a few years. Maybe get it engraved after with the DOB, time, weight, location, etc.

Congrats on the baby BTW!

I used super blue caly 3.5 to cut my sons cord. At the time I owned three spyderco and it was the best option. Now, with more options available I would still choose it. Although I think my pakkawood hap40 delica would be a close second. Word of advise, don't let the doctor tell you no. And congratulations!

I believe in using the right tool for the job and nothing will cut that cord better than a SE Reverse S or Hawkbill!

I’m surprised they are going to let you use a Spyderco. Our doctor told me no way. I was kind of disappointed but oh well. I was going to use my Slysz Bowie.

Autonomy or Spyderfly. Maybe the Respect if it ships before your baby does.

Congratulations, I'd probably go for the Chaparral. A great slicer.

Was thinking the same, it HAS to sterile.....I don't want to be a spoiler but hope the doctor will allow you to use your own knife on your newborn....discuss it first.

Congratulations anyway, in fact you already are a daddy.... ;) Becoming dad is great! We got our second in production now....

Patina is a nice idea, but the blade has to be thin, slicing and darn sharp, maybe with a hollow grind?
I would suggest the CF sprint Walker with the ZDP blade and thin hollow ground blade.

I didn't even think of it at the time, but I kept the scissors. I'm not big on theft but in all the chaos of the moment I never let go of them and I later found them in my pocket.

Hey if they don’t let me use the spydie, I now have a plan b! Haha just playing.
