I wish Spyderco would make...
Re: I wish Spyderco would make...
Something with a large, thick blade out of steel purposed specifically for this item.
The other day, I had the need to quickly send a rabid raccoon on its way. When the brain is rotted from the rabies, the 'coons no longer feel fear, or pain, or much of anything. They readily attack people, large dogs, etc. I was able to stun the coon with a few blows from a heavy, long root-cutter to the face, and then step on the head, and use my Tuff to decapitate; however, this was fairly risky. Even with protective gear on, so much could have gone wrong.
I'd like to see a longer, machete type weapon: 12-15" of legitimate usable blade, 3-4" of width, and 1/4 - 3/8" thickness, that takes and holds a sharp edge; a G10 handle, nice, fat, and contoured with a heavy duty lanyard hole. The weapon would be swung by the lanyard on the wrist, using the grip to guide it, much as a trekking pole is used: the grips are not gripped per se, but are used to align the pole and press down. The energy of the blow / cut would come from the lanyard and a whole arm swing. I would think, with practice, that it would be possible to carry out a decapitation in one large blow with minimal risk to myself - if not a clean decap, at least a cutting of the jug and/or carotid. Alternatively, a stabbing motion could be employed to nail the rabid animal to the ground.
I know that Busse / ScrapYard makes the Sykco line; the Sykco 1111 in SR-77, SR-101, or Infi steel, with a rubber handle, and a coated blade, is very close to what I need. I'd would, however, like this piece to be Spyderco.

Screwdrivers with G10 handles! With all of their knowledge of steels and heat treats i'm sure they could come up with some bomb proof phillips screwdrivers made of super hard and super tough steel. Something that is hard enough not to deform when turning a rusted screw, but tough enough not to shear off the tip. There are only a handful of companies that make a decent phillips, and some are arguably going downhill as they have moved factories out of Germany in recent years. The new Snap On hard handles arent as good as they used to be either, though I do love the handles. There is some real opportunity for them to be king of the screwdriver world.

I'd take 4V or PD-1 as well. Need a choice for a tough grade of steel in the Native.steelcity16 wrote:Native 5 sprints in Cruwear, Elmax, and 3V with G10 or Peel Ply CF Scales and Full Stainless Skeletonized liners. Full flat ground, not saber ground.

Dragonfly 2 with Maxamet blade in FRN or natural G10 scales with SS liners
keep those super steels coming in Dragonfly 2, I have a collection to build.
PS: would also love to see; Delica 4 in Maxamet.
Manix 2 G10 linerless mid backlock in ZDP 189 and in Maxamet
