Sal, now that I have a Shaman- I have to ask
Are there plans to make this melted grip for a PM2? This is without a doubt the finest G10 grips Spyderco has ever made in my opinion. The "bar of soap" ergos are amazing. You can expect the masses to want the same on other models I am sure.

I hope you're right, unfortunately it seems like everyone wants wafer thin knives. The Shaman looks like a fair middle ground to me.

Agree David. I paid more than I should in brick and mortar taxes but at $150 online, the cost would indicate sculpted G10 isn't that cost intensive
Re: Sal, now that I have a Shaman- I have to ask
You are spot on, these scales are darn near perfect IMO. The rounded edges make for excellent ergos. :)twinboysdad wrote:Are there plans to make this melted grip for a PM2? Well I've only been preaching for this for about 7 or so years. Rounded and contoured is where it's at.

Props, D. Unlike me who waited on Spyderco to do it, you actual have modded a whole bunch yourself. I can name the Kiwi 4 and Yo2 I have seen you mod/melt and I am sure I have missed some.Evil D wrote:Well I've only been preaching for this for about 7 or so years. Haven't held one in hand yet. Can you clarify - are these contoured scales like the Slysz Bowie, or more like an extended or radius chamfer? The pictures look like the latter - meaning it would take less machining and could more readily be added to more knives... :D

Re: Sal, now that I have a Shaman- I have to ask
No, they’re not fully contoured like the Slysz Bowie. They are thicker handles, but still flat on the outside edge, necessitating more chamfering to get a more “contoured” feel but not technically fully 3D contoured like the Slysz. :)

I agree. I haven't handled a Shaman but the contoured scales on my Pattada and Friction Folder are a delight to hold.
Re: Sal, now that I have a Shaman- I have to ask
IMHO the pm2 is perfect as is. I'd rather it be left alone.

Hi TBD,
The Shaman is kind of an experimental model. I spent years developing the model and a great deal of that time was in many different handles. Materials, textures, etc. until I finally decided on the current iteration. We'll watch reaction to the model before doing too much. I'd like a carbon fiber S90V version. If its popular, I'm sure one of our distributors will want various exclusive variations.

Loving the Shaman, I'm ready for sprints! polished carbon fiber with S90V sounds great.
Re: Sal, now that I have a Shaman- I have to ask
Since this thread is addressed to you, Sal, I'm taking the opportunity to thank you for giving us such a fantastic knife.
Had the Shaman been my first Spydie, I can't imagine I would have pursued others. I think the knife is that good. And did I say it is STOUT?
But, of course, I started, as many here have, with a Tenacious, so now I have some forty Spydies (it only follows). I have buyer's remorse for maybe two, and my remorse is really quite mild.
All to ask, why hasn't my new Shaman displaced my only slightly older Police4? I'll hang-up and listen to your response off-air. :D
Would you consider a Shaman sprint in Elmax, AEB-L, or CruWear?

Re: Sal, now that I have a Shaman- I have to ask
Haven't handed the Shaman yet, but the contouring is why I have always liked the Native III best of the Native versions, so I'm guessing I'd like the Shaman.
And yes, CF/S90V please! :D

A shaman with polished marble carbon fiber and M4 would be a must have.
