Spyderco Sacratripas? (Cane Knife)

#1

Post by SpyderEdgeForever »

I really enjoy learning about new knife types and designs from around the world and various cultures. One that I recently discovered is the "Sacratripas". This comes in both fixed and folding form and is used for cane and agricultural work and other uses. I wonder: Has Spyderco considered making a rendition of this, using their unique materials and designs? Here are two pictures. One is a custom-version designed by Mr. Szabo that looks amazing:

Basically these knives have variations in France, Italy, Spain, and other Mediterranean countries, and, various Latin American nations. All very cool and useful for various applications. I'd love to see a Spyderco version with more upgraded materials such as stainless steel and FRN or G10.

Looks like a nice, subtle gentleman's EDC folder. A real lunchroom-friendly piece.

"Oh, this little guy? It's called "Sacatripas", that's Spanish for 'intestine taker". Go see HR? Why?"

yeah, first thing I thought.
Here in Spain "Saca tripas" means someone or something that rips your guts out or takes your intestines away from their body...pretty gruesome TBH.

The name is quite appropriate for this aggressively curved blade and looks.
They're often used as Mushroom hunting knives (such as the opinel version of this claw blade)

A new Saca Tripas arrives at Bloke's Place.

Beloved wife check this out!

Alex, I have no interest in knives! You know that but it looks very nice.

It's a Saca Tripas. A disembowelling knife. I just got it!

It's a what?

A disembowelling knife. A Saca Tripas.

You bought a disembowelling knife?

Yeah, I've always wanted one!

You're an idiot! What in Gods name are you going to do with a disembowelling knife.

I am not! I just like disembowelling stuff is all.

You're an idiot and please put some of those knives away. You're really starting to annoy me!

You're obviously very jealous because you don't have a Saca Tripas! If you stop calling me silly names I'll let you use it anytime you need to disembowel stuff.

Alex, if you don't shut up I'll use that bloody Saca Tripas on you!

Ah, hahaha! Why would you say such a thing? Ah, hahaha! Don't you like me anymore? Come over 'ere an give us a kiss!

Get lost! You're an idiot!
