Practical knives that need to be made

#1

Post by Doc Dan »

There are some practical knives that Spyderco needs to make. Some of these are already in the planning, but they have not been released, yet.

1. Dragonfly Blue FRN
2. Manix 2 back lock Light Weight
3. Manix 2 back lock Light Weight Salt
4. Manix 2 back lock XL
5. Manix 2 back lock XL Light Weight

and for Elena66

6. Manix 2 back lock CPM-Cru Wear with CF scales

Yes.

I'll add:

- Police 4 lightweight (Optionally, make it a salt)
- wharncliffe Ark (Think yojimbo 2 and current ark having a baby)
- H1 Spyderhawk (Same build as the H1 run with a new handle color)
- DLC M4 runs of the flagship models.

Manix 2 back lock Light Weight's in various versions but that one also in Cruwear.
(would like the handle thickness of the regular Manix 2 LW though)

This is blasphemy as PM2 is my favorite just the way it is, but PM2 LW? Some kind of makeover for a knife that hasn't changed since 2010?

I've got two that I've been wanting for some time that are indeed practical. First and foremost we need a Catcherman modle in full Spyderedge. Second we need the return of the TEMPERANCE 1 made with one of the nitrogen based blade steels like H-1 or LC200N. But I would also want the TEMP 1 available in PE & SE both.

Sure, that's sheer practicality...

All for that!

And a few of my own additions:
- Linerless C54 Calypso (slim and lightweight cutter of an adequate size)
- Maxamet G10 Manix 2 (XL, if possible)

Nothing blasphemous about change at Spyderco I would say and it's not like it would replace the original PM2.
I would love a PM2 LW with backlock, might be considered blasphemous by some but so might the pocket clip and Spydiehole have been seen a long time ago.. ;)

1. Dragonfly Blue FRN

2. Dragonfly Red FRN (and maybe S110 or 90V but would also be fine in ZDP-189)

3. Dragonfly XL (true four-finger grip and blade length to match)

4. Manix 2LW in LC200N

5. Delica 5 (wire clip)

This, liner-less please.

And I wouldn't complain if the blade came in LC200N. Wire clip is a MUST! More wire clips!

The more I study images of the M2 backlock the more I crave one in the more boutique steels. Please make this happen.

Might as well add my Wish List to the mix.

Manix 2 with liners, G-10 scales, and blade not in excess of .125" in thickness, in K390, Maxamet, or PMA11.
I am already committed to the Blade HQ Dealer Exclusive with CPM M-4.

After acquiring my first Light Weight version of the Manix 2 a few months ago I can state without reservation that I will never buy another Light Weight version of any knife. I just don't like the light weights.

I would consider the Manix 2 Back Lock with liners, G-10 scales, and K-390, Maxamet, or PMA11, if it were not for the .140" blade thickness of this model. I have examined one in hand and again, I just don't like the blade thickness. But then most knives these days have blades far too thick for my preferences.

Manix 2 XL with liners, G-10 scales, and blade not in excess of .125" in thickness, in K-390, Maxamet, or PMA11.
I feel the Manix 2 XL gets neglected and I would like to see more blade steel options in this model. I would buy the XL in any of the above listed non-stainless steel options.

3 knives, 3 blade steel options. Is this too much to hope for?? :)

Practical....G-10 linerless Native and or Manix in a tough tool steel. M4, 3V, 4V, Cru-wear. Or a new Golden made model with those same specs, say a Golden made G-10 linerless larger version of the Dragonfly with a tool steel. Same DF shape just stretched to 7.25".

Has been a dream for some time but the problem is it always takes quite some time and effort before new molds for a new LW idea can become reality.
Let's hope there a few more people that think it's a great idea!

Looking forward to the reissue of the Mantra...

I'd like to see totl Taichung build quality, preferably with ti:ti frame lock configuration, bronze bushings, and stainless blade. Sooner rather than later ;).

I like this idea. Keep it really slim and I'm in. I like how the Manix2 Backlock had a thicker stock, but I think it would be awesome to see this PM2 backlock have a THINNER stock than the comp lock version.

That would be the perfect size for me.

A lot of good ideas in this thread. For my self:
PE Hawkbill Dragonfly, LC200N, Hap40, ZDP189.
Wharncliffe Dragonfly.
PE Lil Matriarch, LC200N, Hap40, ZDP189.

NO!
No choil in the Delica, please. There are plenty of choils for choil lovers, don't destroy one of the last choilless knife in Spyderco's catalog.
