I did a little lite food prep (if opening packages before baking counts as food prep ;) ) with my Hawkfly last night.

Opens boxes with ease.
20170924_213746.jpg
Opens sauce packages (this sauce has a lot of vinegar and will stain steels like maxamet, no issue with h1)
20170924_222720.jpg
Browning butter to add to the sauce (Orange sauce, brown butter, dehydrated minced garlic, sesame oil, chili oil, togarashi, franks red hot, Tabasco chipoltle , Sriracha) First you brown the butter, then flash fry the dehydrated garlic in the butter, add the sauce to cool it and stop the browning process, then add all other ingredients and wisk, then bring to a boil. :D
20170924_221810.jpg
And last but not least, the chicken comes in a 2 pack so I cut the box down to size to conserve freezer space :D

Looks nice! I like the cutting down the box trick. I've been discarding the box, which leaves me wondering whether it was the fish at 400 degrees for 20 minutes of if that was the chicken nuggets.

Cut an old cred card in half with the Dragonhawk (Hawkfly)(HBDfly :D )
It was shockingly easy. Hooked the edge on a scallop and did a slow pull cut through it. I know I sound like a broken record but this is such a great size and shape for a knife, very easy to control.

(Obviously no Pics :D )

I received my "Hawkfly" about ten minutes before a second package arrived, so naturally Its first chore was to welcome another member to his new family.

Starting to get a nice scratch pattern on the bevel. You can see the angle of my usual cuts.
Image

Used it to cut some thin metal wire twist ties to free a souvenir from it's package, no visible edge damage.
Image

Separated some bananas. Pretty close color match :D
Image

Finished the night off with a Scotch Mule ( Hot(spicy) Ginger ale, JW Red Label Scotch, and the juice of 1/2 a Lime ) :D

I love you man. :p That looks really good. I was just bugging you, of course. I do prefer fobs on the small guys, though. Now, I really want a Dragonhawk, thanks mostly to your pics (and Dave's). Thanks, bro.

:D Thanks. It's a sweet little knife. I'm with you, I have a fob of some sort on most of my smaller knives.

I don't agree with that at all.

Ladybug/Manbug, you get a 2.5 finger grip and it's nice to add a lanyard to give you the feeling of a full hand grip, but the dragonfly if you grab it by the choil, it gives you a 3.5 finger grip and I don't think you need it.

Now, if I was going on a ship on the ocean, I would probably use one (with any knife) so I could hang it from my wrist.

I rarely use the choil on any knife when cutting. I get better control when farther back, and more power in the cut or slice. Even with the Wharnie Delica at work, I noticed that when slicing longer cuts on boxes, I choke back. Better wrist action in my cuts. I only use fobs on Dflies and smaller, though. Fobs are short little deals, and lanyards are longer with a loop. Big difference. I would only use a lanyard if I didn't want to drop or lose the knife in a situation. I like knives to have lanyard holes in case I need one.

I guess that sounds reasonable. I tend to use the choil all the time.

Carefully opening boxes :D

I like that I can pull cut with the tip at an upward angle so I just cut the box and not what's inside the box (they like to heavy duty glue the boxes they ship my coffee in shut for some reason).

Hi all, made some Rum Mules and did a little Baking.

I discovered that the Hawkfly is excellent for peeling Ginger. I bet it works great on Carrots and Potatoes too. I'll have to try it out in the near future.

Anyone else out there using their Hawkfly?? Post some pics! :D

Funny, when I first decided I liked wharnies, I just used my Cento 4 to peel ginger.
