Salt 2 vs Delica 4

#1

Post by ammatt99 »

Hello, I'm new to the forum and have a question about some knives. I'm looking to get a knife that would be primarily used as a sailing knife and be kept in my pfd. However it would be great if it could also function as a good edc. So far I have been looking at the salt 2 and the Delica 4. Both seem to be really good knives and very similar. So which should I go with? Or does anyone have any suggestions of a different knife?
Thanks for the help!

Salt 2 hands down. VG-10 is pretty good at corrosion resistance under normal circumstances but I doubt it will last long if it is getting constantly exposed to water in a PDF while sailing.

I'm not sure if I got a fake, but the PE Salt I got off Amazon couldn't hold an edge if it had vise grips for hands. Although, I have heard that SE VG10/H1 are comparable in edge retention.

Thanks for all the feed back! Sounds like I should go with the salt 2. So do I get straight edge or full serrated?

Get the serrated. It will hold an edge for a long time.

@snowman, sharpen that PE H1 several times and you will notice a huge improvement on edge retention.

Welcome to the forum! And another call for serrated H1 for around water carry. Serrated any steel.
