Exactly. This is why I've wanted this knife for so long. It's the perfect companion blade to your main EDC.

Whoa bomb shell! Hopefully this arrives in time for my trip to Florida this October. I really like the idea of this being a companion blade.

To all those that championed this idea, well done! And thank you Spyderco!

I am trying out a Manbug ZDP and honestly don't love the skinner blade type. It is useful but man do I find the leaf shape better for EDC.

I've got a Ladybug Hawkbill Salt, A Tasman Salt, and a Dragonfly Salt. And I'm positive I can find uses for all of them. Tasman for the beach and pool, DFly for the minibar, ladybug for a shirt pocket knife (I really like small knives you can carry in pocket like man/lady bugs), and now the Hawkbill DFly as my EDC companion blade. I guess what I'm saying is if one is good two is better :D

Hope this means we're also getting the Spyderhawk soon. Dragonfly handle never worked for me otherwise I'd snag one of those up. Nice size for a companion to a larger leaf shaped folder.

H1 isn't just rust proof....in SE it holds an edge better than most steels, it's tougher than any stainless, and sharpens very easily.

Corrosion resistance is a big deal to many of us. I can rust most blade steels in a day if they aren't DLC coated from body sweat alone. I live where most days are 100F+ and humid, and I do strenuous work outside on a river.

This is great news and with the completely unexpected popularity of the Ladybug Hawkbill this could indeed start a new following for Spyderco's other Hawkbill blades. Most people would probably do well with one of these smaller Hawkbill folders and some people might see it as an ideal EDC folder. Using one of these newer small Hawkbill models just might just create an appetite for one of the bigger Hawkbill models.

This is so encouraging that people are starting to see the practical uses that Hawkbill blades have. The Spyderco Hawkbills are probably the most overlooked cutlery tools in their entire line up. But once people see the potential uses that Hawkbill blades have then the tool will simply sell itself ;)

Haha! True. I kind of wish I'd waited on the Ladybug, because I got a Manbug Salt not long after and greatly prefer that.

Still, I do like the Dragonfly platform, and it would be nice to have a small hawkbill that gives me a better grip than the Ladybug.

+1 on the wait list for this one. I love my Ladybug H1 hawkbill, and it needs a little friend. I think I might take the wire clip off and just drop it in my pocket like my Ladybug. I prefer a bigger blade but when I'm at work and have important meetings I can't really have a clip showing. (Very anti-weapon environment, even though this isn't a weapon).
The first time I saw a Spyderco was the early 90s at a knife shop in a mall. I can still see the SpydieHoles through that glass display cabinet. My parents wouldn't buy any of them for me... so now I buy them all. :spyder:
