Awesome review! This knife recently made it on my "wish list", your article moved it way up the list!

Where is the sprint run with an extra inch (or inch and a half) of blade?

This thread and that thorough review make me know I need one of these very soon.

Somehow I missed reading your review when first posted, just read it now. Great review. Only problem is that nobody seems to have the SpydieChef in stock anywhere . I'm sure I'll end up buying one sooner or later.

Yeah, now that my interest is piqued, it seems all the official Spyderco retailers have run out.
Does anyone know if there are more batches incoming in the near future?
Or should we roll the dice and take our chances from wherever one might show?
Re: My SpydieChef review went live on ITS Tactical (yeah, after months of use)
They have slowly been rolling back out to dealers because they did some CQI and replaced the detent ball with a ceramic one so it is truly rust proof now. I would wait and pick up a newer one with the new ceramic detent ball.donutsrule wrote: ↑Mon Jul 30, 2018 3:09 pmYeah, now that my interest is piqued, it seems all the official Spyderco retailers have run out.

I just got a CQI version myself this past Thursday. My date code on box is “DR”.Molle Ninja wrote: Hey guys,
Just received my ‘Chef in the mail. 2 questions for ya:
—Re: CQI, does my detent ball look any different than yours? Bad pics, I know. The seller had a bunch, so I’m thinking it could be ceramic?!?!?
—Is my lockup particularly late? Hmmm?
Thanks!
It’s hard to tell from the photos if yours is a ceramic detent ball or not. It should be a dull gray or black in color.
Your lockup looks identical to mine. This is my second spydiechef chef, and lockup has been the same on both. I’m not worried about it at all.
Edit: My first chef (pre-CQI)was date code “HQ” if that helps at all

Thanks so much—mine is “DR” as well, and the detent ball looks gray/black, too. Appreciate the lockup weigh-in, too. That makes me feel better! Looks like it’s a keeper!DirtMcGirt wrote: ↑Sat Aug 11, 2018 2:59 pmI just got a CQI version myself this past Thursday. My date code on box is “DR”.Molle Ninja wrote: Hey guys,

Are the bolts and clip also ti on this guy?

I have never understood the appeal of “it’s a chef knife but in your pocket” Clearly I’m the odd one out here- however when chefing I tend to be in a kitchen with my actual kitchen knives.
I suppose if I did more camping and stuff?

I agree,, with a 3.3" cutting edge, the knife barely qualifies as a very small paring knife.
The knife should have been designed with a 5"-6" cutting edge blade to be useful.
I would prefer a Military or Police FFG model for camping.

I agree that it’s a misleading name. I have had one for quite a while and absolutely love it. Hardly ever use it for food prep though. It actually makes an Amazing edc. Completely rust proof, slim in the pocket, and a breeze to touch up on a strop. One of my favorites. I still use my chaparral for fruit and stuff because of the 1.5” blade stock. It’s a superior slicer.
