make me feel a bit better... I'm having a cranial flatulance /knife jeliousy moment.



I just got my SS Fly back from eric yesterday... been using it since then... well, I seemed to have forgotten JUST how sharp it is. It found my thumb and taught me a lesson.



I was sharpening the pencil here in the office, and capped my thumb over the end(it's small, Ihave larger hands... it works). Well, my slightly tanto'ed tip found me. I just stabbed about 1/16" into the pad on my right thumb. Almost forgot what a stab felt like(and it was this one last time too).. should start paying attention with this sucker.



so, make me feel a bit smarter. this is on top of sunday night's cut with the endura. don't know how it happened, but I have a cut on my right hand, at the base of my middle finger(palm side), and I had been using the endura before I realized the pain... must have been it.

My last cut was probably 3-4 weeks ago. All I was doing was letting gravity close my native and the tip caught a part of my palm that was in the way of the handle.
I didn't expect it to swing fully around. Boy was I wrong. I've since learned that if I hold the knife with a normal grip that the knife closes on my finger (the choil in the blade?) and then I move my hand and close it the rest of the way. This instruction was in an older dealers catalog.

Not a Spydie but I dropped my Microtech LCC on my pinkie finger and sliced(deeply) into the tip. Compress and butterfly bandages helped inthe healing. It is still tender and that happenend a couple months ago.
VW don't feel so bad, we all play with sharp things sooner or later...

That's why I'm a Knifanatic. They are sharp yes, I like that very much. My last cut must have been 15 years ago, when I was a ten year old kid. I used to play with SAKs and as these little things don't lock, when I stabbed a log, it closed and cut my index finger right through to the bone. But since then I learned a lot about knives. I treat 'em right, and they treat me right. I've never ever since then cut myself.

The last with Spyderco
It was before the New Year. I tried to cut a free-hanging papeg band (shop cheque). I tried to do it with an up-directed slash and as a result lost a nice piese of my left thumbs fingerprint, andgot a deep cut in the end of index finger.
So now I'm really sure, that my Endura is really sharp!!

I don't cut myself often, and I use slipjoints a lot. You'd think with the thumb-pull carving method I use, I'd have hamburger for a thumb, but I don't.

However, I have had some real doozies over the years. Let's see...
-Work. Cutting silicone caulking off a door by holding knife handle and pulling down. Knife happily digs into left palm.
-School. Removing plastic off of CD from biology book. CD pops loose, deflecting blade into left thumb.
-Kit knife. Lock seemed plenty solid. Tried light spine whack. Failed miserably. You can fill in the rest. <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Never underestimate the impossible.

no knife related cuts.. thorns ripped through my foot when I ploughed through the jungle to retrieve a shot deer last week..

A SpydeRench bit me a few months ago. I was reaching into our display case to show a customer a serrated model. The blade wasn't all the way locked open and when I grabbed it by the handle...it closed on my hand. That was worth a trip to the emergency room and 5 stitches. Customer loved it!
Just a reminder to myself that I work with sharp things <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Well! My latest cut was, um, THIS morning. <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> (Thread: Wrath Of Harpy) Let's just say that the shot is beginning to wear off, and my finger feels like a drum. Like samo no knife cut but I cut my left thumb with a piece of sheet metal off of a roof of a goat barn! Sharper than any knife!

ah trimming the card brings back bad memories. i was the kind of kid who always had to weasle out of losing a card. still remember the supertool in the palm that almost cut me a corner.

I'm worse but must have hands of aluminum. Demo'd the Gunting Drone to some friends in Austin last week, then had to break out the Qs and others I brought along. Standing there flipping my Dacor dive knife thinking, "Hmm seems heavy for a drone", when I caught it tip down in the palm of my hand. Minimal blood, minimal penetration. Still learning.....

My last cut was with a new Centofante. I had just bought it and was getting used to the safelock one handedly and nicked my right index finger. That was one sharp little bastard!!!!
