Strange markings on PM2 blade

#1

Post by Hardbawl »

Greetings from North Central PA. You helped me before when I was unnecessarily concerned that my [then future] PM2 blade might come open in my pocket. Now I have another question for your collective minds. My PM 2 left hand has arrived. [It is great in all respects.] On one side of the blade is a rendition of a spider. If I flip the blade over there is a strange etching exactly opposite the spider. Is this an artistic rendering of SAL? Closer to the handle there is another "squiggle". Does anyone know what is the significance of this mark? Your help is appreciated. Hardbawl :D

Welcome aboard, Hardbawl. Like Dan mentioned, those are the makers' marks for Sal and Eric Glesser, who are father and son. Sal is the founder of Spyderco. They designed that knife together and so both of their marks are on the blade.

Hope to see you around.

From one lefty to another, congratulations on your FINE choice of a knife, Hardbawl!

Having Sal and Eric's designer marks along with the Golden/Earth markings and the Spydie logo on the appropriate side of the blade...well it all makes me smile every time.

Welcome to the forum.
