Cruwear, 4V, PD1, M4, even S90V for me. But then, I don't spend much time around salt water, where LC200N makes more sense. I prioritize edge retention and toughness over corrosion resistance, obviously. So if it is one or the other, them's my choices. But an steel better than S30V or VG10 works for me!

Make it in Taichung out of CTS-XHP with Foliage green G10. I'll buy several.

Yeah the more I think about it I tend to agree with where you are coming from "dogrunner". Because the Lum Tanto folder just isn't a knife I would even want to see in the Salt Series the more I think about it. And this is coming from a serious fan of the Salt Series for the most part. But the Lum Tanto folder really would stand out much better in one of the supersteels.

I too would like to see one with either M-4, 4V, S90V or better yet M390 blade steel along with a really jazzed up Carbon Fiber handle. A Carbon Fiber handle like the ones you see on Klotzli ( a really nice Swiss Made folder). Or a really nice grade of G-10 for the handle. I wouldn't even object to seeing the C-46 Lum Tanto folder return with a Titanium handle.

I had a brief moment of excitement when I was reading the byte and saw the Tanto pictured under the Darn Dao section. I enjoyed still enjoyed the read, however. I’m not giving up hope yet.

Sigh! I think if we are patient, we will be rewarded :)
But then, I'm an optimist. But this is too good a model to leave dormant.

HAP40 + Pakkawood.

I'm guessing that IF this comes back, there is no way it will vary from the original pattern nor maker (otherwise requiring all new design process, tooling, and qc steps), so our choices would probably just come down to a selection of steels and handle materials or colors.
Going back to Caly.

For me the whole point is to resurrect the Lum Tanto, so yeah, original pattern and maker (who is not longer with us).
But in a great steel and handle material. HAP40 would be ok, and there have been a lot of other great suggestions (high wear resistance and tough steels such as 4V, M4, Cruwear, S90V are my favorites). Any stable and attractive handle material other than metal works for me.

I think that seeing a run of the Shabaria come back is a very good sign that we may see a Lum Tanto.
