In all seriousness, what is the likelihood of sprint runs?
Buy a standard model and the chance will be higher :D
We dont have any sales numbers, but I hope that Chief will be popular enough that we get a sprint run. Yes, its a large one, so people are not jumping on it like on Para 3, Native 5, but hey, Millie is also a large knife and its popular as heck.

Buy em up folks! We want Salts and Sprints! I may buy a second one just to prime the pump.

I did buy one actually, before seeing this post. I should have it in a week.
I just feel like a very long, lightweight, linerless folder calls for a high performance steel for slicing. 15V, s110v, Maxamet, etc. The knife is far from a tank so I wouldn't really be looking for toughness in steel selection.
I'd buy a Maxamet chief. I'd probably also buy a CF/S90V one as well to go with the rest of them. Wouldn't mind an LC200N run too but I'd prefer no yellow G10. It would get dirty really fast. I'm just glad to fianlly have a native chief afters years of waiting.

Well yes, you are right, I also want some high performance steel steel, I would love K390 or CPM 10V. But really, I will buy any sprint run, Cru-Wear, 4V, LC, 10V, anything.

Carried the Chief for the first time yesterday. It's quite a good piece.
Pros:
Beautiful design
Very good ergonomics
Superb action
No thumb ramp
Back lock
Generous finger choil
Perfect jimping
Thin FFG blade with perfect finish
Blade size
G10 scales are thick
Cons:
Typical minimal up/down blade play of certain back locks
Bevel asymmetrical at tip (otherwise perfect)
Grippy G10/clip is rougher on pockets than a Military
Scales are not as chamfered as the military's (like pm2)
I'd prefer liners, but it's a solid piece
Drops shut when you REALLY press down the lockbar. Pivot is tightened perfectly. Stropped the factory edge 7-8 passes per side with 0.1 micron diamond on leather, it now whittles hair both against and with the grain. Spydie hole is significantly smaller than that of the military and 1/4 of it isn't exposed when the knife is closed. It is still easy to open and even spydie flick. The tip is extremely acute and must have unreal piercing ability. Initial sharpness somewhere between hair shaving and hair whittling. Overall, very good. Well done. Looking forward to sprints!
I'm glad to see more folks getting Chiefs and keen to hear more impressions. My experience continues to be excellent.
I was a little surprised to hear of Pelagic' s lock rock. Then I got mine out and (to borrow a phrase from Darby) really 'bear pawed' it and can detect just the tiniest movement. It is barely perceptible when looking for it (took me a month plus to notice it) and imperceptible in use. Still quite pleased with the knife and think it's plenty solid.
I do have slightly more bevel toward the tip (no biggee), and did have a tiny burr at the tip (fixed).
This is not a fragile knife, but, because of the tip, neither is it the Stretch, let alone the Shaman. Know this going in and you won’t be disappointed.

I knew you are going to like it!
I have to honest, Chief kicked out my PM2 for EDC. PM2 is now my ,,work knife“ and it moves to the beater category.
If I compare Chief and PM2, Chief is much more space efficient and with almost same closed lenght you get a quite a bit more blade. Chief is a hit, I am really hoping for sprint run.

Me too. Top notch super steel please, this platform begs for high performance!
It is so much nicer to hold. And being linerless construction you dont have to worried about hiting liners. Only thing that sucks is that you cant really contour spine of the knife, because the screws and the pin are close to scale´s edge.

Got my NC in hand yesterday! Haven't cut much with it but am really liking it so far! It came perfectly centered and very sharp. The g10 is perfect for me. Not as grippy as an Emerson. Which is a good thing so it not wearing out my pocket on my pants. It opens very nicely and no lock rock at all. Packs very good and is a good weight. Looking forward to using this knife and I'll give some thoughts on it later.
(Size-) comparison vid of Chief vs Police for everyone who might be on the fence between these two: https://youtu.be/gDNW8kFHnxA
I personally clearly would prefer the Chief, mainly for its more compact closed size. What I took from the vid: People with really fat fingers (I don´t have such) might prefer the choil of the Police; and both have tips probably a bit thin for my liking (prefer the Endura tip shape).
Regardless, I´ll purchase (and most likely KEEP) a Chief eventually, that´s for sure.
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Thanks for the link. I want both the NC and P4. Gotta save up for them. I’ll probably go for the NC first.

Thanks for the pic! Shows what I like about the Chiefs design: About the same blade- / edge length as the Millie, but noticeable shorter and slimmer in pocket... (if you compare the handles and consider the Millie blades "hump")
