The overall design looks very well thought out,
That's funny! :p The Native Chief has been in the design stage for over 25 years. So it must be the Most thought out :spyder: design. LOL

It has morphed a bit since inception. It looks a lot better now.

My issue is more with feeling(1) and personal mantra(2).

The extra heft that comes with the steel liners feels right in my hand. They also(usually) have the right balance for me.

As far as strength goes, a knife with steel liners is definitely stronger and more durable than just G10 alone. Will you or I ever need that extra strength and durability? Probably not.

But, what if you did?

To summarize:

1. I like heft in a knife. Not too much, a la Autonomy 2. But, some.

2. Have and not need>Need and not have

I don't agree. I do like linerless.

I'll have to live with the vanilla FFG.(sigh) With hopes that Fradon Lock has a sabre grind 4V exclusive. :D

Thanks for your reply! Yours are valid points, no doubt. We just have different preferences, that's all.. :)
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

I understand that it's completely personal about liners /linerless! But Cold Steel has proven for years that LINERLESS G10 provides an immensely strong platform. I love that Spyderco is moving to that direction!

Not for me... ;) I like the Shaman, but the "basic" G10 fits my likings even better than the CF sprint (Micarta would be a different story... )

I’m not seeing a lot of these in the wild so it’s weird that I’ve got my hands on one here in Canada already. This knife is great. It takes everything about the original Native and makes it better while dropping the things I don’t, namely the swedge.

Image
Most recently acquired: Military 2, Paramilitary 2 Tanto x2, YoJUMBO, Swayback, Siren, DLC Yojimbo 2, Native Chief, Shaman S90V, Para 3 LW, Ikuchi, UKPK, Smock, SUBVERT, Amalgam, Para 3 CTS-XHP, Kapara, Paramilitary 2 M390
Grail Paramilitary 2 M390 X 2! ACHIEVED!!

Wow, you got the Chief and the Shaman sprint too (saw your pic in the S90V Shaman thread). What a cool pair to have new at the same time.

Sure did, pretty cool I must say. They’re so different but similar. You can definitely see and feel the similarities.

Wow, nice! Thanks for posting!

I wonder if anyone else here has the Chief meanwhile.
At at least one Euriopan dealer it must have been available, but is sold out again already...

Nope. Yours is the first I've seen. I hope it's as nice as I imagine.

Oh yes! Comparison pics to Endura and Military would be great! (And I guess for many to the Police either!)
