Could someone please post a picture for size comparison between the Spyderhawk and Tasman HB or Dragonfly HB? :)

I don't have a Tasman anymore, but suffice to say the Spyderhawk is to the Tasman as the Endura is to a Delica. It's a pretty formidable knife.

Thanks heaps D! :)

I’m on the fence with this one because of the size.

I don't see myself carrying this one for EDC but it will definitely get used in the yard. I have some kind of vines I can't seem to kill that I have to weed out every year and I was planning on doing so with this knife but that'll have to wait until I figure out what I'm doing with it.

I posted a bunch of other comparison pics in the parallel thread over here:

Note the difference in serrations and clip gen 1 v. gen 2

here's a few:

Thank you very much nicked.onaut. :)

There’s quite a noticeable difference between Gen #1 and Gen #2 and I think I like the new grind better. Thanks again!

It is just incredible how great of tools that Hawkbill blades are for lawn, garden and landscaping>> especially the SPYDERHAWK. They are truly the destroyer of vines as well as cattails, reeds and a wide assortment of swamp and wetland plants as well. And I'm telling you that some of those types of plants are extremely difficult to cut with conventional type blades>> but with Hawkbills you really have some great advantages.

Like I've said in the past if Spyderco would market these tools in a popular lawn & garden catalog like A. M. Leonard or any vendor like them I do believe they would have a hard time keeping Hawkbill blades in stock.

Just look at the past Hawkbill threads and all the posts of the guys using them for those types of cutting chores.

This is a big knife for sure. I like it but other than cutting down a couple hop vines, I’m not sure what I’ll use it for.

Was anyone else surprised there wasnt any jimping on the thumb ramp?

True to the original it is without jimping and I am glad Sal chose this route.

Yes, given that all cuts will be pull cuts it’s unnecessary. And I’m someone who almost always wants jimping. Just this once...I’ll allow it.

Is your vine this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celastrus_orbiculatus? If so, you're gonna need a Hawkbill.

Helps also to know what the seedling looks like. Best to get this thing early. And get your neighbors on the warpath...

This is a good idea. Maybe home improvement stores too - in the garden section?

I'll see if I can get pics of it. It grows up in a bush and I'm not sure what it is either lol. I cut it out every spring and it's back by fall.

I would have a hard time gardening with my sprint run Spydie. I'm sure it would do a great job though.
