I know exactly what he's going through. I took well over 200 pics just for this year's calendar contest, and that's only of the knife/setting that I ended up using, I had several hundred more of other knives in other settings. At least these days it's digital and you're not wasting all that film lol.

The Meet is usually held around the first week of March. It works out nicely from a scheduling standpoint because the Meet also comes right before the IWA show in Germany.

Welcome to the forum, toeterbaas! :)

You're welcome. :) Hope to see you around! We've got some pretty cool folks here. It's a great place to hang out and talk knives.

Spyderco 2017 Production Sample – Caly 3 HAP 40

#35

Post by Mr Blonde »

The Caly 3 in HAP 40 will be a sprint run that was announced in the 2017 Spyderco catalog. In that respect, this knife wasn’t a huge surprise to see at the meet, but it sure was nice to see and handle it in person. The knife itself is a somewhat of an ‘old friend’ to me, and I’ll be sure to add this variation to my collection of Caly and Calypso designs. The forest-green G-10 is a nice color variation, that I don’t see too often in Spyderco folders.

Spyderco 2017 Production Sample – Chaparral Raffir Brass Mesh

#37

Post by Mr Blonde »

I think this new Chaparral is known in the Spyderco catalog as the Chaparral Raffir Noble. Whatever the name, I think this is a very nice classy edition to the Chaparral line. The handle material has very light and smooth feel to it. The handle’s ergos help to sufficiently control the knife, so I don’t think this handle will turn out to be too slippery for everyday carry. It is surprisingly difficult to photograph though. In these photos it looks darker and greener than I remember it from handling the knife in person. This ‘Raffir Brash Mesh’ Chaparral should be much more affordable than the previous high-end Chaparrals. Definitely another edition to my Spyderco wishlist!

Having handled the Raffir Noble Chap I can say it's a total winner and I'm even breaking a personal rule to pre-order one. :)

It's that nice.
Warhammer 40000 is- basically- Lord Of The Rings on a cocktail of every drug known to man and genuine lunar dust, stuck in a blender with Alien, Mechwarrior, Dune, Starship Troopers, Fahrenheit 451 and Star Wars, bathed in blood, turned up to eleventy billion, set on fire, and catapulted off into space screaming "WAAAGH!" and waving a chainsaw sword- without the happy ending.
