National knives has an eBay store and has the K390 urban in stock and says they ship worldwide. Could you try PayPal that way?
PayPal is funny. If you are overseas they make you open a new account there and the US one is no good. The problem is you buy in local money and not USD that way. Far too expensive.

I didnt know that. Thats no bueno. Seems like paying the expensive shipping costs would be punishment enough.

I just received my K390 Urban and I like it so much I ordered two more. I really like the dark gray handle scales. I would like to see a K390 Urban Wharncliffe with dark gray G10 scales.

Mine arrived today too! I like it and I think it's definitely worth the price of admission. Mine came with a pre-patina. That is....after I wiped off the oil that the blade was covered in there was staining over the entire blade where the oil was beaded up. It took quite a bit of rubbing with a cotton cleaning patch to get rid of it. No big deal but I've never had that happen with any of the other tool steel blades I have. I'm not a big fan of patina but I think I'm gonna cut a bunch of fruit and veggies with this one and let the patina do it's thing.

-I think mine had the same thing you're talking about from the oil, but I just washed it in hot water and dish soap and it came right off. (Carefully, to avoid getting water in the pivot on day one :))

What did you use to force the patina?

8 hours in white vinegar. It turned very quickly, compared to many others.

Well, anything, but I would love to see a pingo in k390 made available to the general public or a spy-dk or a roadie...all of which are legal to carry over here ;)

Me? I live in Germany. So that's the reason for crappy knife laws and hard to get sprint runs. So happy that I actually managed to order one from a dealer.

thanx. Yes, knife laws are an interesting concept. We follow these laws closely internationally. Like the Nuns running the whorehouse. ;)

How strong is a slipjoint spring in an Urban? I have bought a Penknife once, no tension at all, I returned it. Was it a bug or a feature?

As the designer, I would say that "it is no more than necessary and no less than perfect", but I'm biased ;) Your mileage may vary.

The spring in my Urban is much better than "not tension at all".

But I have a UK penknife that's much better too, so I'm guessing you saw a bug.

That was the first version of UK-PK, hollow ground blade. I have read that flat ground Penknives have stronger springs. I have to check an Urban myself ;)

I have a orange G10 UKPK, foliage green G10 Urban, and now the grey FRN/K390 Urban. All 3 have similar spring tension that I think is ideal. Not too strong yet not too weak.

Sal, is the cosmopolitan on hold because it was to be a two handed opener for the Denmark market? Now that their laws changed to allow one handed openings,is the model not needed?
