Ideal Spyderco Pairings

#1

Post by toothed »

Don't you sometimes look at a bunch of knives and feel that two in particular seem to complement each other and make a "perfect" match?

My Nomination #1: Police G-10 (Plain edge) with a G-10 Harpy.

My Nomination #2: Police SS (Serrated edge) with Dragonfly SS (Plain edge)

Any other nominations out there?

Well, I'm gonna have to stick with some of my favorites.

1. Updated Viele with G-10 Harpy
2. Plain edge 440V Military with G-10 Harpy

Those have to be the best, as they are my daily and weekend carries, respectively

Good match:

G-10 Navigator & Chinook (plain edged).

Both have G-10 scales and a full length steel back spacer. Both are lock-backs. Both of them have riveted handles and they even have the same number of rivets in the same places. Blade shapes are very different, but both have a relatively large opening hole and are hollow ground. And finally, both are carried tip down. (You can even replace the Chinook's black clip with an an old Military clip, so they both can have silver clips! )

Some good matches for sure.

For years I caried an Endura for the heavy chores and a Lady Bug for the more delicate chores.

The G-10 Police and Civilian.
They have many design elements in common.

Wow, this thread was started a long time ago. I was about to reply with my concurrence with the first poster until I realized that that poster was me--almost a year ago!

Ryan, I wouldn't argue too hard against your nomination. Nice set for sure.

Ummmm... Interesting post!

My best bet would be the Military + Endura!

I sometimes pair my FRN Endura in my right front jeans pocket with my FRN Matriarch on the left. A lot of blade that you hardly even notice carrying.

My gruesome twosome are,
G-10 Standard (PE) and G-10 Harpy
or
SS Delica (PE) and SS Harpy.

When I have time to track down the large PE Calypso it will sometimes be,
Lrg Calypso (PE) and Lrg Calypso (SE)

Ok, here's mine:

* Cricket SE

* Calypso Jr. SE

-As you can probably tell, I like my 'toys' to be in a serrated edge. I do have some plain edge stuff too, but it doesn't have the fangs that the SE's have...

How 'bout a Delica and an Endura? Serrated, of course!

Or, a Dragonfly and a Police...both SS, both serrated.

I kinda figured Ryan would go with the L/R CF Civies. Show-off!
