Any word on a release date for the police 4 K390. I have never owned a police model but now I really want one.

There will be a Police 4 and it will have Bohler K390 steel.

That's all I've heard so far. :p

This is top priority for me in 2017. I have never really wanted a Police model until this one.

This was a surprise to me, and a great one to discover!

A bit beyond my regular carry size, but excited to try one out.

It is a large knife, probably too large for many. The blade is almost 4.5". I like it. It carries easily though. With its large full flat blade and 14mm opening hole, it's much like a mid-lock-back Military. I've been carrying the proto quite a bit.

Thanks Sal I can't wait to get it. It was a choice between the military or police the back lock and steel is what made up my mind.

Since we finally managed to get some of our laws changed here, I'm looking forward to trying one (now that I can carry it without risking arrest).

Sal,

The Military and Police 3 are two of my top 5 folding knife designs. I couldn't be happier seeing the proto pictures for the Police 4. The minor things I disliked about the Police 3 have been dropped in the new design, and you're giving us an interesting blade steel to try out. The blade shape is a proven classic, and should make the knife a bit more versatile than its predecessor.

I read in another thread that the Police 4 will be lighter than the Police 3. Any idea how much of a difference? Half an ounce?

It is at least a half ounce lighter. Just one more good thing.

Ah, music to my ears. And, if I'm not mistaken, others have asked for a Millie of this description. And a tip-up or -down option... Woohoo!

Man.....this Police 4 Bohler K390, is going to be a real workhorse imo. The K2 in CPM 10V, is amazing. It just stays sharp lol. I suspect the same performance will be had from the new Police 4. Cannot wait!

From the many of A11 anolog steels that I've had (like the K2 in CPM 10v) I believe the thinness and the geometry of this blade will make it hold an edge even longer than the K2. I've owned 4 knives in K390 and have grown to love the steel as one of my favorites out of CPM 10v, Vanadis 10, K294, and much more than the high vanadium stainless steels' like s125v, s110v, S90v and other tool steels like Maxamet. Of coarse my first K390 knife was from Phil Wilson so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it but I'm very grateful to Sal for putting these steels in pocket knives so I can take them to work as well!!
