Seeking Endura 4 wave trainer

#1

Post by blackhog »

Ladies and Gents,

I am new to the forum but not new to Spyderco. I have a Police model I've carried for years now. I recently purchased the Endura 4 wave and am looking for a trainer for this knife and can't seem to find one. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks I appreciate the find. Working with the Endura wave feels like the right fit for my purposes.

I just looked closer at price. Yikes, I paid 140 for 2 new Endura 4 wave folders, not clones, any other trainers available online? Used is fine as well.

One option is to add a wave to the standard trainer.

Well, you can hold out and hope one shows up on eBay at a more reasonable price, or you could buy a regular waved Endura, blunt the blade, round off the tip, and add some red paint to the grip portion of the handle.

My vote is for modding a standard Endura trainer with a wave hook, rather than blunting a live blade. My reasoning is that you'll need to remove steel to the top of the saber grind to get an edge as thick as what comes on a trainer. Even a severely dulled live blade is vastly more dangerous than a trainer's edge.

Good idea to re-contour an standard endura. Do y'all know anyone who has had success doing this? Thanks again for the ideas.

I've done it for myself, but I don't do it for others. A Dremel and some patience is all it takes.

I've done it to probably a dozen knives, and I can't say I'd recommend it. It's one thing to do to a knife that you can't get a folding trainer for, but for an Endura, either zip tie mod the trainer or gave a kydex or metal wave made for it.

If you grind down the knife, do NOT use it for moderate contact. It needs to be more deployment and light contact drills.
