Well I got back from the seconds sale to find a box with a new Hungarian and large spydie PAC...so this morning I thought I'd fix it up and get it in use, so I got the aluminum rod I'd bought at ace hardware cut it down to size and made my little incision to slide out the wooden dowel that has always broke on me, only to find an aluminum rod already their.....so cool...anyway just putting it out there, anyone else who might have been doing this in the past you can save yourself the time, and anyone whose been put off by this in the past, problem solved....thanks much for making great products even better.

The spyderpacs used to have a wooden dowel inside of the fabric at the top to maintain the shape when folded open and for some added strength.Jazz wrote:I have no idea what you're talking about. Wooden dowel from where?
There have been complaints about these dowels breaking, but Spyderco has replaced them with aluminium ones apparently.

Great! My Spydiepack I bought years ago arrived with a broken dowel. I never bothered fixing it, as it's not a major problem, but I'm glad my next one should be stronger.
