Crappy pic because the neighbors hate when I bring this one out, but if you look closely you can see my McBee on the lens.

Yes :D Random pattern groveless titanium from ti survival. I've got a bunch of beads from him (just ordered 4 more too) great quality and customer service. Use 'Covid' at checkout for 15%off.

Just the basics:
Re: Spyderco/flashlight match-up.....
Pretty fun mail call today. And I got to use the dfly to open the clamshell packaging on the light.

Exact light I got yesterday, except mine is black. Really looking forward to carrying and using mine on an everyday basis!

^^^ I've been happy with mine as a permanent edc for the past several years. Someday I'll try something different, but I'm happy with a simple Microstream for now :)
Re: Spyderco/flashlight match-up.....
have you all tried the usb version? it's really great. it has two brightness settings and is rechargeable. as long as we don't have an apocalypse-bringing emp type scenario, it's really convenient to have a flashlight that recharges instead of taking batteries. i have also been carrying a nitecore tini and it's ridiculously bright for it's size. i haven't been carrying the microstream as much because the tini is smaller and fits in my pocket pouch with a butane zippo and sak rambler.
*edit... i didn't see that it was a usb model. sorry, julia. i didn't realize they made them in other colors now.

Re: Spyderco/flashlight match-up.....
Yep, I got this one for the usb charging, and an olight that takes regular AAA batteries, just to see which I prefer. I can see the utility of both, though.ladybug93 wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 5:33 pmhave you all tried the usb version? it's really great. it has two brightness settings and is rechargeable. as long as we don't have an apocalypse-bringing emp type scenario, it's really convenient to have a flashlight that recharges instead of taking batteries. i have also been carrying a nitecore tini and it's ridiculously bright for it's size. i haven't been carrying the microstream as much because the tini is smaller and fits in my pocket pouch with a butane zippo and sak rambler.

Re: Spyderco/flashlight match-up.....
There are pros and cons to USB rechargable lights.
I'm using a USB rechargable AAA cell in mine. I always carry an extra cell that I can swap out if the rechargable cell runs out when I'm in the middle of using it. With the USB lights, you don't have the option to swap out a battery when depleted and continue to use it, you have to dock the light and wait.

Re: Spyderco/flashlight match-up.....
that is definitely a potential problem. i figured i only use the light for a short amount of time when i need it, so i don't need it to last forever and i don't need to be able to replace a battery immediately. however, i also carry a battery bank and a headlamp in my backpack always, so i'm covered for a backup multiple ways without being overly redundant.

Re: Spyderco/flashlight match-up.....
Yep, I can see that being annoying. I've always heard that it extends the life of a battery if you drain it completely before recharging - is that true of these newer rechargeable lithium ion batteries? I ask because recharging the light every night would certainly get me through any average day.PeaceInOurTime wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 5:52 pmThere are pros and cons to USB rechargable lights.

Re: Spyderco/flashlight match-up.....
i thought i would do that, but i just don't use my light enough to justify topping it off every day. i actually don't even use it every day. the battery lasts a pretty good amount of time, so i would say it depends on how often you use the light. i carried mine for about two months and only charged it once. even then, i'm not sure if it needed it or not. i just charged it because i figured it should be charged.JuPaul wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 6:28 pmYep, I can see that being annoying. Re: Spyderco/flashlight match-up.....
That's good to know. I won't use it more than a few times a day, and generally for no more than 10 minutes at a time (these pocket lights are awesome when I'm checking my dogs for ticks). Sounds like charging it once per week would be more than enough.ladybug93 wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 6:34 pmi thought i would do that, but i just don't use my light enough to justify topping it off every day. i actually don't even use it every day. the battery lasts a pretty good amount of time, so i would say it depends on how often you use the light. i carried mine for about two months and only charged it once. even then, i'm not sure if it needed it or not. i just charged it because i figured it should be charged.JuPaul wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 6:28 pmYep, I can see that being annoying. that’s what i was going to recommend, but then realized i had no idea how much you use it. hahaJuPaul wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 6:42 pmThat's good to know.
