Can somebody please comments on these pics for me? Do you think this is a real one or fake? And if it is real, I would like to know about this particular model as much as I possibly could: History, Value and anything else that of interest. Thank you so much for your time!

Judging by the 3-screw clip, yours looks like a 1998-2001 model:

"1996-2001; "MILITARY" & place of production on blade; 1998: many improvements done, incl. a slightly curved, strengthened clip with 3 mounting screws"

I have a post-2005 S30V SE model. :)

It's not the very first run due to the three screw clip. Value is whatever someone will pay.

First of all I very seriously doubt if anyone would try to fake anything that old and with uncertain collector value. Second the box and the little insert catalog both are consistent and authentic for that time period and GOD knows I used to own dozens of Spyders from that time period. I'm 99.9% certain that you have the "Real McCoy", C-36, 440V, SE Military model.

One sidebar is that I actually seen many more of the ATS-34 versions with that type of presentation stamping on the blade. Most all of the 440V models I owned either PE or SE were kind of plain Jane looking on the blade compared to that model. But I probably had units newer than that one. You might have a piece there with at least moderate collector's value because again most of them I seen with that type of stamping were ATS-34 models.

The Military model has a huge following and I've met a couple of guys here at the Forum that collect every Military model that was ever produced. I can't remember how many Sprint Runs they have done with that model in the past 8 years or so but there have been several. I would say you've got the "Real Deal" with that unit IMO.

There is no way I'd pay $500. Maybe $150, or less.

Do you really want that specific model with the serrated edge? If not then why not buy one of the newer production versions? The newer Militaries are much more refined than the older ones.

I recently found a NIB SE Millie (different markings which would indicate it was newer than this one) for 180 CDN. So that 150 US mark seems about right. The knife was priced significantly higher but my offer was taken up immediately.

This was about 3-4 months ago.

These old millies have thicker blade stock which combined with the full SE make it a beast. Some people prefer that over slicing ability. To each his own.

I wouldn't pay $500 for a Military even if the blade was made from Adamantium! I like Militaries, but not that much.

$500 is a ridiculous amount to be asking for that knife, even in pristine condition. $150-$175 max is the going price for these. They come up fairly regularly on eBay. :)

To address your point, JD Spydo, I purchased the Spyderco CPM 440V Military, in both PE and SE, with the same stamping on the blades and clips (as seen in Knives_r'us' photographs) from a reputable brick-and-mortor knife store some time ago. And, as Knives_r'us' photographs show, there are no stamping on the tang of either of the knives I ordered.

Can't really tell from Knives_r'us' photographs whether the clip on that knife is black... the CPM 440V Military SE I received came with a black clip.
