Very excited to receive this months Spyder Byte and read that Spyderco is coming out with a new Light Weight Manix 2 that will feature the new Maxamet blade steel. I passed on the Mule iteration and have been second guessing that choice until now. Will definitely be picking up at least on of these. Also really like the FRN color choice, very subdued but clean. Thank-you to the whole Spyderco gang for this one!

It doesn't matter to me, but it might to some, the handle material is FRCP. There's been a lot of confusion over this in the past, so we should stay consistent.

I'll be in on this one. Crossing my fingers for a G-10 version.

Anyone want to hazard an MSRP?

A Maxamet Manix2 in G10 is a must-have for me. FRCP? Not so much. I prefer the heft, even if the handle strength is only marginally greater.

"we will be introducing it as a blade steel in elite versions of some of our best-selling US-made knives."

That gives me hope that there's a PM2 in this. That's the one I am most interested in purchasing.

Wish I knew if there would be G-10 versions as the FRCP isn't really my favorite material.

The Native 5 Maxamet was also announced in the Spyderbyte and will be on my must have list. I expect MSRP is going to be around the same as the S110V models or within about 20% of their MSRP.

I second dplafoll hope that the PM2 will be released in Maxamet as that would be my top US model I would like to see this steel released in.

Why choose Maxamet over S110V? Just curious.

Because S110V already exists! Its all about variety

Better edge retention. I'm not sure how their toughness compares, but Maxamet should be able to cut for much longer.

Yes, a G-10 version would certainly catch my attention and my dollars. :)

Agreed, a G10 version would be awesome, I find myself carrying my G10 M2's way more than the LW versions.

I probably won't be buying another LW version, but if I can score one for a good price it may get sacrificed for a blade swap. Then again, a month after I did the S110V blade swap Spyderco brought out the production version of the same steel with G10, so I may just cross my fingers and see what happens.

Quite the opposite myself! ;) I have sold off every Manix I owned (I think I had them all) save for the lightweight S110V one which is my favorite tool box knife. I'm on the fence for the new Maxamet one, but I'll definitely be picking up the N5 version. :)

I'll definitely grab one, how can I not, seeing as I am hopelessly addicted :D I just really like that solid weight-ee feeling of the G10 version. :)

Very excited to see more Maxamet, but will be waiting for the G10 version of the Manix, as well as the PM2 and Military, (hopefully Manix XL as well)

Yeah really....Elite versions, FRCP?...,.Ti, CF, even G10...but FRN or FRCP doesn't say elite to me....will get for collection anyway but will never carry..

I used to say I preferred the g10 Manix (after handling both knives extensively), but after owning both and carrying a Manix LW for awhile, I prefer it to any of the g10 versions for EDC. I was super happy to see that they were going with the lightweight platform.

I hope to see them make a LW version of the paramilitary 2 one day!!

I don't mean to say the LW aren't fine knives, but to me, the other models are more comfortable and less prone to issues. The Japanese FRN is fairly comfortable, I don't find the harder feeling FRCP quite so comfortable
