I saw a pre-order for one of these for pretty much exactly that amount. All things considered, not too bad for Maxamet in a tough, lightweight folder.

I think they'll sell very well. That said, I just reacquired a Lightweight S110V and I couldn't be happier. I'll take the higher corrosion resistance and give up some abrasion resistance.

At over $160 this is getting expensive for a LW Manix for me, regardless of steel. So many other great options at this price...

I'm with you Hans, $160 for a LW seems a tad high for me, so many other nicer pieces out there in that price range, of course I'll probably end up getting one as I just cant seem to resist any of these fancy pants blades. :D

Not that $160 is so much money, but I'm kind of feeling the same way. It was worth the extra $30 - $35 to get the S110V LW Manix vs. the BD1 version and to upgrade from VG10 to ZDP189 on my Endura. But I don't know that I use my knives hard enough to realize $50 worth of incremental performance improvement between S110V and Maxamet. If I cut up three or four cardboard boxes each trash day, it could easily be a year before I notice any difference.

Practical smactical... Lol. I don't need one but I'm getting one regardless. One day, Maxamet will seem like VG10. :D We'll be cutting cardboard with light sabers.

I can't afford it, but I could use another wire-clip deep-carry lightweight option to go along with my S110V Manix, Caly's, and Superleaf. I use the darker anodized Sage-type clip on the lightweight Manix for an even less conspicuous, slightly deeper carry. And I'm a little intrigued by the stone gray color. So I plan to get one, but since it's regular production, I may hold off awhile and try to get an Ouroboros first -- wish they'd hurry up and drop.

Oops... forgot my Chaparral, Sage 3, Cat, Squeak, and Urbans, so I guess I can't pretend I really need another wire-clip deep-carry opttion... but maybe a bigger such option?

I don't mind as much spending $50 extra when the cost is entirely in a higher performance steel.

I mind when I pay $50 extra and the price difference is only for aesthetics. I especially mind when I have to pay $50 extra for aesthetics ontop of the additional high performance steel price.

I forget about all of that after a little while, though.

It means different things to different people. For me $150 seems to be the boundary, I won't spend more than that unless I have really good justification. A PM2 in M4- yes that's worth it. A Manix 2 with molded plastic scales will be harder to justify. $140 and I wouldn't question it, $160 and I'll think about it a lot more.

No, I haven't heard of any plans for a coated Maxamet blade.

I didn't pull the trigger on the Maxamet Mule so I'm glad to see this option.. I don't have a Manix 2 yet so this should be a nice way to give the model a try. I'm hoping it will make a good backpacking and EDC knife. I'm also really curious to compare it to the S110v PM2.

Now I just have to decide if I preorder or take my chances finding one when they drop.

Pretty sure you'll be able to snag one. These are higher priced, so I expect them to stick around a while.

Has anyone heard anything about this?

*edit* Oh, I see in another thread that Knifeworks said they expected it in October, we might not be too far off.

Looks like the Maxamet Manix 2 LWs are about to drop. A guy on Facebook just reported that he bought one at the SFO.
