The ocean giveth....

#1

Post by Surfingringo »

And the ocean taketh away. :) Landed my biggest fish of the year today but broke my rod doing it and somewhere in the shuffle my Pacific Salt went over the side to its final resting place at the bottom of the sea. It has been a great tool and companion, but I'm not too bummed. I got two years of brutal use out of it and it was probably about time for a replacement. Hard to feel too sad on a day like this. ;)

It was a total gong show...broken rod just added to the chaos. The video is loading on youtube now. I'll link it later.

Yes sir, Rooster.

Truly spectacular photo! Congrats on a epic catch and an inspiring attitude towards "donating" a Spydie in the process.

Great catch! :)

RIP Pacific Salt... :(

You are not a fan of a boat tether/lanyard for your kayak knife?

Great catch!! Somewhere down there Neptune is learning the virtues of the Spydiehole! I'm sure he'll appreciate the H1 steel too! :D

Wow, nice fish, good catch...it worked out....if you'd saved the knife and lost the fish we'd be like, yeah, I've heard that story before..lol...sorry about the rod too, can get expensive.

Awesome Catch. It is always the big ones that end up taking something from ya.. I gaffed myself while unhooking my biggest kingfish of the year this past summer. Ole Poseidon always gets his share..

Now that's what you call some collateral damage! Sorry for the loss of your rod and knife, Lance. As you said, at least it's a good excuse to get some new gear. :D

Btw, how do you manage to keep your kayak steady while wrestling with those larger fish? Congrats on your catch!
