This has been a long time waiting for the Military in S110V to come out.

Got it last week and been working on testing it on 5/8" Manila rope, cardboard, Zip Ties, Wood, and Power Cord.

Reprofiled to 15 Degrees per side and sharpened to 400 grit silicon carbide finish (40 Micron).

1st up is the rope, cut 5/8" manila rope until 20 lbs of downforce was reached making draw cuts. It made 1,080 cuts with no edge damage and would slice phone book paper after testing.

Sharpened the knife back up after the rope stage.

Next up was cardboard, cut 6,000 linear ft of cardboard checking every 500 ft for phone book paper sharpness, would still slice phone book paper after this stage, zero edge damage.

Next was wood, tested to check for edge strength, no edge damage was noticed and will still slice phone book paper.

Next up was 175# zip ties, no edge damage and still slicing phone book paper.

Last stage was Power Cord, no edge damage and still slicing phone book paper.

Conclusion:

Performance was excellent and suffered no edge damage. Fit and finish was good, no blade play noticed in testing.

S110V is a super steel! Great review and reinforces what I have seen with my S110V N5 LW

Thanks for the extensive testing Jim. That's a s*** ton of work. I have done some testing and I always get bored after a half hour. My hand gets sore too. I'm too big a wimp to make that big a pile of cardboard. :p

We appreciate your effort! Good stuff.

I am glad you got a knife that you have been wanting for so long.

I know this is a performance thread but I just gotta ask, why didn't my Para2 come with a black clip? It looks good. :)

Hmm, I had exactly the opposite thought; why does the Military have a black clip when the polished clip looks so good on the Manix and PM2?

I never wear gloves when cutting cardboard, gives me a good feel for the knife I am testing. :)

I still think the Military is Spyderco's best model. :spyder:

Gotta love these high wear resistant steels, cleaned it up and sharpened it, not a mark on the blade...... After all of that I put it through. :D

Done testing the high wear steels for awhile I think, have a custom to test in Super Blue that is up next.

Far cry for the last 3 I tested.... S125V, MAXAMET and S110V... And all within a very short period of time. :D

I'm truly envious of your dedication and tenacity and so very grateful for it! How many hours do you dedicate to a review such as this?
