The Vallotton holds a place on my list of knives I really wanted until I saw them in real life. A blade that thick and narrow needs a Nilakka grind to cut the way I prefer my knives to cut. Unless I win the Powerball and decide I just have to have one of everything, I'll pass on the mini as well.

It is a beautiful piece. And I'm sure it will make many people happy. I just don't have a need for an extra heavy duty gentleman's folder. Looks like a beast of a knife though, well done Spyderco.

The thick handle will probably keep me away from purchasing one. I prefer a slimmer handle for regular carry.

Paul, do you have the D/A Vallotton?
I've always wanted one...

You can't really tell from the photo, but yes, this one's a D/A conversion...

Seems like they got rid of the recurve from the videos I've seen of it from shot.

Frankly, I'd call it more of a cool gimmick than a useful feature. It's reliable and fires hard and fast, once I get it to fire, but the bolster release is quite stiff. I find it easier and faster to open it the same way I open any other Spyderco, using my thumb and the Spyderhole.

Am glad to hear they're leaving the recurve out of he Mini. Will make it more appealing if a Vallotton DA conversion becomes available. :)

I don't find it stiff on mine, problem is the meaty thumb tries to push the liner too :) Once i got used to it there was no problem. I'm sure the Vallottons would take on the new one for conversion if you ask!
