Pimp my Native 5: How changing scales?

#1

Post by f.older »

Hi folks,

I decided to order iron wood scales for my Native 5 (at Cuscadi). But I wonder how to change the righthand scale cause it seems wedded with the liner/plate via pivot of the lock bar.

Is there any tip or tutorial to mount new scales to the Native 5?

Best,

I am not sure about tutorial, but it is easy. I am like you never disassembly a knife until I bought desert ironwood scales for my native5 from Cascadi. Just do this slowly, do not loose any pieces and remember in what order you took them out. The most difficult part will be to keep the blade on center, when you assemble it back. Try not to over tighten screws. You can crack scales, if you do. If blade will be off center, it will be easy to fix it. Just untighten screws, straight out blade and start tighten screws, each screw one turn at one time, then next screw and so on.
Do not forget to post pictures :)

Thx bh49,

yesterday I had disassmbled the Native 5 to clean the washers. And I saw the righthand scale is closely linked to the plate via the axis of the locking bar, in my view. Or am I being wrong?

Pretty sure the lockbar pivot on the G-10 Native 5 is two pieces, a screw and a hollow bolt with a D shaped body and a flat head. Once you remove the screw from the left side, you just push the bolt out to the right.

Like these, only with flat heads on the screw and bolt...
