2017 Calendar Contest 14th place prize.

I was recently the beneficiary of some goodwill here on the forum and I have been thinking for awhile of an appropriate way to pay that back. I love to give away knives but I have been running into an issue lately. I have a number of knives that have been given to me or that have some sort of sentimental value and it doesn't really seem right to give them away or sell them, yet I still feel like culling the heard. So....I am going to take one with a bit of sentimental value and pass along the sentiment. I was selected for inclusion in the 2015 calendar and the prize that year was a Sage 3. It's a wonderful knife with the smoothest action of any Spydie I own but it lives in a drawer gathering dust. So here's my plan...

Every year at the end of the calendar contest, I'm a little saddened by all the amazing photos that didn't get selected for the calendar. So this year, aside from the 13 normal winners, we are going to have a 14th place. I will download all the photos that did not get selected and choose which one I think was most deserving of inclusion had there been an additional slot (which there now is ). The lucky winner obviously won't make the calendar but you will receive a "like new" 2015 calendar contest prize. To build the suspense, (and because I honestly have no idea yet which photo I will choose) I'm going to take 3 days to look all the entries over and announce my 14th place selection on Monday.

So that's it folks. If you thought you were going to make the top 13 and were disappointed, don't lose hope yet. 14th place will be announced in 3 short days!! :D

Ahh, and before anybody asks, yes, I took a grinder to the spine and flattened it a bit, making it slightly less "leafy". Never fear though, spine is polished and it looks like it came that way from the factory. :)

That's a heckuva nice thing to do, I thought there were a ton of great photos. I like the idea of a "best loser". They should run that photo on the back of the calendar - the one that's always facing the wall (come to think of it...the cover shot is always facing the wall too).

Still trying to choose one. This is difficult. I loaded all the photos into a folder and slowly eliminated them one by one over the last couple of days. I've got it down to 3 at this point. I'll announce one this afternoon. :)
