Bird-Defense Spyderco?

#1

Post by SpyderEdgeForever »

This may sound odd but which Spyderco knife would you all recommend and want if you were in the following situation: Crazed mass of birds (gulls, crows, ravens, vultures, hawks, etc) were dead set on attacking you (like in the famous movie "The Birds")? Would you prefer something like a serrated Endura, Military, Pacific Salt, or one of the fixed blades? Perhaps the Tatanka?

I'm just wondering on this hypothetical and which Spyderco would be best suited for that.

Well...if the 12 gauge shotgun wasn't handy I'd want a Tatanka in my right hand, a Military in my left, and my running shoes on both my feet! :D

This is not the question I thought you were going to ask when I clicked on this thread. I read it as Byrd defense knife?

In case of a bird attack of biblical proportions I'd go for a long ffg pe like a military. Not really a question I thought I'd awnser anytime soon, but there you go :p

the more serious question is: what if you got attacked by a swarm of spiders (like in the movie 'arachnophobia'), what Byrd knife should you use as defense then?

Good question, well asked.
I was recently attacked by a murder of enraged crows whilst fox whistling! Upwards of 10,000 birds! It was a bit scary but, I quickly removed both bootlaces, opened and tied the two Enduras I keep in my boots to each end of one lace and grabbed the lace in the middle so the knives hung freely but did not clash. I did the same with the Military from my back pocket and the Paramilitary from my front pocket. With the pair of Enduras in my left hand and the Military and Paramilitary in my right, I spun the dreaded blades as though they were turbo props. It wasn't pretty, but thus I escaped. As it went I didn't need to use my back up knives; Stretch, Delica and Manbug, so it's hard to say for sure. I reckon maybe four Military's with custom serrated edges would be the go, though you will require good quality laces. :)

Unless Spyderco made a flamethrower, then not one of their lineup will do.

Szabohawk, to get into shelter or make it but if we really have to stick to knives I'd take the Bradley Bowie for the same reason. If you'd want to fight them that flamethrower would probably be a good starting point. ;)

I'd pick the FRN handled Spyderco breadcrumb and seed dispenser and get their minds set on food :P

Don't bring a knife to a gunfight. This scenario calls for a shotgun.
