Old school Police with titanium handle

Post by elena86 »

Sal what are the chances for a sprint ? Old school serated Police is the most iconic Spyderco IMO and I think it deserves a new iteration with titanium handle.I hope I'm not the only one.

You mean like this?

Just for perspective, back in 1993, when those were made, the MSRP of the SS Police was $106, the Tufram aluminum Police's MSRP was $132, and the titanium Police had an MSRP of $300. Now it may not be nearly 3 times as expensive today, but it still might be too expensive to draw much interest.

That sounds expensive. Yet, I am not so sure. Titanium knives have gotten a lot, I mean a lot cheaper since 1993. Now you can buy them for less than $50. So, the idea of a Ti Police is not to far fetched and I would be interested if they kept the cost down around the price of the Ti Endura or less. I would rather have the pattern used on the current G10 version, though.

The original C07 is still one of my favorite models. I'd love to see a pinned model Sprint of some kind, Ti would just be icing on the cake.

Hey Paul,

Thanx for the memory trip.

I have a Police 4 in-the-works. I wasn't happy with the "3".

I remember the last discussion of a Police Sprint brought this up as well. Anything specific about the 3 that you are aiming to address with the 4, that you're willing to discuss that is?

Is it the case that Spyderco could release a titanium handled sprint Police with the 4th generation blade style, and not contradict the principle that a sprint is only ever released once in a given variation?

A Ti Police 4 sprint would be a really cool place to use LC200N.

There has never been a sprint of any Police model since I started buying Spydercos. I'd love to see it get ANY sort of sprint or alternative run. DLC? Ti? Salt? Anything.

There was talk about a Ti/ZDP189 Police 3, but that never happened. Would have bought a couple.

Very unlikely, an original C07STI Ti-Police should have ATS-34 blade that's best of my knowledge. But it is Spyderco and you never know ...

A serrated Ti Police salt would make sense in a really strange, wonderful way.
I'd love to see a matching Civilian even more, if this winds up happening.
