Delica 4 or Manix 2?
Delica 4 or Manix 2?
I like to do a lot of back packing and also want an EDC that I am not afraid to abuse. So the question is, Orange Delica 4 FFG or Lightweight FRCP Manix 2?

Can't go wrong with either, obviously. Manix 2 if you're really liking the CBBL on your XL, I'd say. Lightweight for serious backpacking and can handle even tougher jobs. Love that Delica 4 too, such a great value. Still....mentioning "backpacking" makes me think LW Manix 2.

I don't backpack but I carry a grey Delica 4 in the bottom of my pocket and either a Manix 2 LW or Endura clipped to the top.
Overkill maybe, but I'm happy.

That sounds like something that should only be done by two consenting adults :)ZesT wrote:I like to do a lot of back backing ?
I vote for the Delica , it's my favourite knife .

I prefer the more robust blade and the grip of the Manix 2 LW over the Delica. The Delica doesn't fill my hand like the Manix.

I say Delica...but I would go with the saber grind. Although I love the FFG, I feel the saber grind is really better for all around use. Much stronger tip and still slices well. I love the orange handle too...that is why I put a saber ground blade in an orange handle. Basically, I went the extra mile.

I have done a lot of backpacking (before I was a serious knife enthusiast) and I carried a knife the general size and weight of the Delica. I recall that I did very little cutting with the knife. These days the Manix 2 is one of my favorite sizes for a user knife so that is what I would choose. But for backpacking use I think the 2 knives would work about equally as well so pick the one that you like best.

I would always choose the Manix over a Delica, but for backpacking/hiking it may be better to go with the Delica since it's a brighter color.

Manix 2 LW S110V if you like CBBL. Delica 4 VG10 in orange for visibility. What about an Endura 4?

Manix 2 no doubt. But unless a few ounces is going to make a big difference I would go with the G10 Manix 2. It's just sturdier. Especially if you end up putting a lot of lateral torque on the blade.

Back packing? Endura or a Native 5.

I have both and for backpacking I'd choose the LW Manix over the Delica. The Manix is bigger, has a comfortable grip and only weighs 14 grams more than the Delica (Delica 66g Vs. Manix 80g).

Great pics! Do you have any of the Manix 2 and the Endura 4 side-by-side?

Re: Delica 4 or Manix 2?
I would choose the Delica, not necessarily because I think it's better for backpacking, but just because I like the design better than the Manix. I've only been backpacking a handful of times, but I don't recall ever needing a knife for more than opening a package or cutting some rope. I always brought a small hatchet and machete for heavier duty tasks.
FWIW, I feel like Stretch vs Manix would be a better comparison. And in that scenario I would choose the Stretch.

Manix 2 G-10, no question in my mind at all. It's sturdier and easier to grip with cold fingers or gloves. The extra couple ounces may offend the ultralite types but it's worth it.

Of the options presented I would go with the Manix 2 in whatever steel you feel comfortable keeping sharp. I backpack 4-5 trips a year and I usually carry a PM2 and an Esee Izula.mjbruiser wrote: Great pics! Do you have any of the Manix 2 and the Endura 4 side-by-side?
