Agreed, FFG would be my preference as well.Holland wrote:Would also like to know this.sal wrote:Hi jazz,

This is very cool.
So many knives, so few pockets... :)

Re: OK, it's time to get serious
I have been mostly sitting back and just watching this thread and seeing what Jazz had in mind.
Now I see that we have essentially come up with a Delica4 with a wharncliffe blade. Whoa!!! As a Delica lover I will say that I will without a doubt buy one of these knives. My Centofante4 is a great knife and this would be the same but maybe just a tiny bit smaller. Woot woot!

watching this one with interest. A wharnie Delica 4 is very interesting.
Re: OK, it's time to get serious
If this comes out in FFG and a decent steel I'll be very interested. I don't use my Centofante 4 as much as I would like to because I can't easily replace it. As much as I like fancy sprint steels I'd also rather this come out in a common steel like VG10 and be standard production.

Agreed. I'd also prefer a screw-together construction and thicker blade stock as found on the Delica vs. the pinned construction and thinner blade stock as found on the Centofante 4.Evil D wrote:If this comes out in FFG and a decent steel I'll be very interested. It'd be awesome to see this new knife offered in the same color khaki as on the Kahr Delica. :D

Love this suggestion .

We can discuss color, but making it the same as the Kahr Delica would create co fusion.

How about burnt watermelon green? :)
Just kidding, but on the other hand it could come out really nice..

Interesting thread. Looking forward to seeing the cad drawings and how great is it that Sal is open to suggestions. I love spyderco. What a great ethos.

Re: OK, it's time to get serious
I like it... how about taking a little curve off the spine of the blade?
Re: OK, it's time to get serious
I also like it. How about having a straight spine, like a leek? Or would that give it too much of a needlepoint? Perhaps a reverse tanto-like end
Re: OK, it's time to get serious
Why not just take the standard Delica blade and remove the belly curve , just a straight edge ?

Re: OK, it's time to get serious
That might mess up the edge geometry (thicker at some parts).

That's not a bad idea... I like a more pointy tip.camporama wrote:I also like it. How about having a straight spine, like a leek? Or would that give it too much of a needlepoint? Perhaps a reverse tanto-like end

Re: OK, it's time to get serious
I liked Jazz's sketch with the arcing spine similar to the Urban Wharncliffe blade.
Going back to Caly.
Re: OK, it's time to get serious
I'd keep it rounded so that you could possibly grind it to straight.
Re: OK, it's time to get serious
The whole idea is stronger for working. If you wanted, you could easily grind some off. You can't add any.
- best wishes, Jazz.
