Thanks Sal!

It's a great point and one I've made throughout: while hope springs eternal on these, there's no guarantees.....capacity, market, technical challenges, materials issues and pesky ol' Murphy's Law may conspire to mean we don't see as many as we'd like or as fast as we'd like.
Warhammer 40000 is- basically- Lord Of The Rings on a cocktail of every drug known to man and genuine lunar dust, stuck in a blender with Alien, Mechwarrior, Dune, Starship Troopers, Fahrenheit 451 and Star Wars, bathed in blood, turned up to eleventy billion, set on fire, and catapulted off into space screaming "WAAAGH!" and waving a chainsaw sword- without the happy ending.

Thats actually kind of a relief Sal, there's no way I could afford them all! It does make me wonder though. Is there a vault somewhere deep in the Spyderco factory in Golden filled with prototypes that will never see the light of day? I just like the thought of it.
Most recently acquired: Military 2, Paramilitary 2 Tanto x2, YoJUMBO, Swayback, Siren, DLC Yojimbo 2, Native Chief, Shaman S90V, Para 3 LW, Ikuchi, UKPK, Smock, SUBVERT, Amalgam, Para 3 CTS-XHP, Kapara, Paramilitary 2 M390

They are all filed and kept. Sometimes we will pull something out from the past for another look.

I'm willing to sign a legal document stating that I will never speak a word of what I see in there, if you let me take a peek :D

Quick, lets draft an NDA and visit Golden.

Actually, isn't the Tighe Stick a perfect example of this? I.E. A design that was brought out of the vault once manufacturing capabilities matched the original design.

No, you're thinking of the HAP40 Shredder.

Hahaha, yeah my mistake... with the Krang grip, too, I believe.

Sal, I think you must've just made his day!! :)

Anyone have more details on this possible model?

Sal, is this Bodacious the "Super Rescue" you originally intended, or the manix/tenacious hybrid offshoot seen at Blade Show?

The knife as seen at Blade Show was similar to a Tenacious, but with a finger choil—a very Manix-inspired handle. It came in two sizes. It's most distinguishing feature was a new lock. The lock resembled a SOG Arc Lock, but obviously wasn't.

At the time, Sal mentioned that the Bodacious was originally planned to be a "Super Rescue" but the project got side-tracked in another direction and became the knife seen at Blade Show.

Me too. I wish they'd just reuse the molds and upgrade the blade. I'll take voluptuous(nice word!) FRN over flat G10 any day of the week.

Gordon
I'd like both. I'm really crazy about the hand-filling grip on my D'Alarra rescue -- I always go to it for heavy duty cutting -- but I also like thin G10 knives like the new Stretch 2. So what we need is this G10 model plus a hand-full type FRN version of the same knife. Should we go ahead and start whining for it now or wait for the G10 version to come out? ;)

Edit: just worked my way to this comment -- I sure hope to get both if they actually make it to production:
Evil D wrote: Well, perhaps there's some hope. I was just browsing the Spyderwiki and saw this...
sal wrote:The first mold was made as the World Trade Center project. Then we changed the mold to prevent any more than the planned amnount for the project and created the mold that you have. Then we changed the mold a 2nd time to create the version with the oval. Then we changed the mold to make the handle thinner. Now we're making a run with the pattern modified (narower) and we'll use G-10 to make a slab version to test the changes, then we'll change the mold again to create the next version.
So, like many new knives that come out (such as the Stretch 2) they do the first runs in G10 to allow for tweaks in the design before they commit to a FRN mold. Hopefully this means the final production will be a similarly sculpted/contoured handle.
K-390 on hand: Mule Team 17, Police 4 G-10, Endela (burlap micarta), Endela backup, Endura (canvas micarta), Straight Stretch (now blade-swapped with G-10 Stretch), Delica Wharncliffe, Dragonfly Wharncliffe, & Dragonfly Wharncliffe shorty mod
Note to self: Less is more.

Lots to be excited about..... but this below has me really interested. I'm hoping for a cool (but durable) handle material that will age well with use. I have an old Victorinox Alox (metal) handled knife that looks all beat up, but I really like it more and more and it continues to age and get wear on it.

"Manix 2 with concept Blue Jeans G10....Very nice"
Was this the new blurple S110V manix?
Oh no sir- this was an experimental micarata-ish material made from blue denim"
