What then happens when they bring out a 3rd generation redesigned Paramilitary 2? Its' name will already be taken for this different knife.

How about Parachuter. Or P-shooter for slang. :p
When that happens they can say it's just cqi or call it the para 4. Heh.

God, if I had a nickle for every time that guy has said that, I could have got this game for free :p

I like Militia, if the knife isn't already officially named Minuteman.

Are there any pics of this one yet? I'm curious how the handle shape is going to be. Ergonomics will decide if I buy it or not...haven't bought a Para 2 since buying the 20CP version because I just can't work with the ergos.

The "Scout" and "Operator" sound best to me. I can't wait for this knife. I've been carrying my PM2 for over a year, but it's size really pushes my comfort limit. I stopped carrying my Manix2 LW due to it's size, though I like the lock even better then the PM2's. If I could get a smaller version of the Manix2, I'd have a harder choice over which to pocket everyday!

FWIW, 1st post!

Scout sounds good to me but also seems unlikely that it hasn't been used already..

Yes apparently that's one, did have to google it, never really understood why Americans make so much things with beer openers when any real beer drinker can open a bottle of beer with so many objects..
(my personal favorite being a Bic disposable lighter or the 'handle' of my Victorinox tool) ;)

Ever seen a Bic explode from doing that too often and too vigorously? You don't want to, ruins the beer. ;)

Thought you'd instead make a joke about American P-water beer not having pop tops and screw off instead. :p
Oh, how things have changed with microbrew.

And here's this, just for fun while we all sit & ponder a name for this new lil para knoif.

I've seen disposable lighters explode, we used to do that as kids but since I always open my beers in a controlled manner it doesn't wear them out much.
I won't start on watery US beer and coffee, microbreweries didn't change things much for me since I really have a preference for plain N-European pilseners.. Even drinking nothing but pilsener when I'm in Belgium.
(and some whiskey, no I don't mean that bourbon stuff you guys make! :p )

Will have to wait till later to watch the beer opening vid.

Watched the video, might be a good explanation why Americans actually need those beer openers ;)

I think we might have to settle for PM3, I think it is quite good for a 3" bladed PM.

That's a real bummer Sal. I liked that name a lot. Since each iteration of the knife is getting smaller (Military, Paramilitary) and the names reflect that how about something like citizen, freeman or national? i think that's what you were going for with minuteman right?

I do think Paramilitary 3 works since it's the third of series and its 3 inch blade.
Whatever the official name, I do think that Paramilitary 3 has stuck. Glock never named their pistols by Generation, that was done by owners/enthusiasts. Finally by Generation 4, Glock adopted the nomenclature.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

So they did.. But it is not called a Paramilitary, the PM is only called a PM here on forums anyway so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
It is a bit weird though. Their PM is short for Police Knife in German I believe. (Polizei Messer I guess)

I second this! It's nice, short and a logical continuation of the line.
