Simona:

I see that your still #1 on this fourm, and for good reason. It's nice to have a lady out here to talk to, and one that isn't afraid to speak her mind!
You do not need english lessons-there is something special about the way you talk!

oh - thanks for the "peek"

I'm sure one of these spyderco knives will work for you. Just check out those web sites for one you like but contact- Linda her e-mail address is GlassHartt@aol.com for a list of spycerco knives and prices. Her prices seem to be the best and she ships to other countries. Don't put to much stock into the hardness of a blade.

That doesn't seem possible. A should be around 58-60, definitely not 50! I'd use the knife, and see how it performs. If it can't hold an edge, then there is a problem. A knife at 50 RC can't hold an edge, so try it out.

Never underestimate the impossible.

I'd send the knife to Spyderco. If it's a faulty issue - good enough for Eastern Europe, you know , you should get it replaced with a brand new one. I wonder what do those responsible guys at Golden think about this?
BTW, a switch blade is an automatic knife (the blade is propelled out when you push a button). A ceramic blade is very hard, but just like very hard steel it has some disadvantages. It breaks and chips easily and it's hard to sharpen.

Hello "Simona". I read your posts with some interest. I'm sorry for your bad experience with your testers.

I can tell you that every batch is Rc'd at our R&D facility. I can tell you that our testing facility exceeds our state testing labs (we have more tha $200K in testing equipment for testing knives) and I would guess also exceeds your states labs.

I can tell you that we calibrate our equipment regularly. I can tell you that we know more about knives than most any government. The only things that I can think of are;

1) your equipment is faulty.
2) your operators are faulty.
3) someone is not being truthfull.

Perhaps in Czech, everyone believes that because a government says something is so, it is therefore absolute truth. Here in America, we do not have such blind faith.

We have tested many things that turned out to be other than we were told, so we test everything. We would be happy to retest your knives with our equipment. If we are wrong, I will say so. At this time, I cannot beieve that what you say is accurate. My apologies.

sal

to sal ::: Hi,
but here is also fourth possibility, what you dont noticed
4) your faulty knife
So i can understand, that you do not post this possibility, because similar thing is shame for firm, who sale it..
So i dont know, but interesting is, that second knife, which will tested here in same time(I dont know exactly type, some Benchmade folder knife with green metal handle) was ok and have had hardness 60.
Today, late afternoon, from my interest only,(because i believe not in test ALSO !)take my one known boy with two his knives there, at my wish, one was Emerson Commander knife, second was Spyderco Police, standard edge. And with following results in the test laboratory: Emerson Commander 58, Spyderco Police 59HRC.
So tell me, where is mistake ?
I noticed in previous messages, that test laboratory is from state department area, no public, and here are testing steels for nuclear electric devices, for army (for foreigner army too),medical steels and etc.
And knife i buy in luxury knife shop, in luxury shopping centre, i got all ok, paper Spyderco box and inside in plastic foil knife.
Here they have more Spyderco types, Delica,Police and etc.
I notice, because that im not buy this knife in some bad or suspicious shop or etc., but here.
I must notice also, that i bought Spyderco Endura from following reason ::i like this design, is flat, light weight-its importand for me,and have nice blade, not so big, not so little so for me its ideal knife for defense (read up, in my previous messages, why i bought knife...)and in addition, good price, its important for me too,Spyderco Endura cost 100usd here,so sure, when i can select,i buy Police, but here is expensive, around 220usd...
I have had big pleasure from knife, this day, when i bought, you can believe me.I watch TV and i play all evening with this and when came my girlfriend from college and i show to her my new brand knife, she said, so if you want, go and visit my father and he make you steel test and you get mark at your new brand superknife...so i visit, i thought, yes, when i get mark here, will super, i can roister, what i have
And after start, what i wrote here last days...
Its all...hm
From someone, i was accused, and in addition rough,(read message at first page),that im some human, who hate american things, its really TOTAL kibosh ....
i have absolute,ABSOLUTE no reason say some bad here, some untruthful gups.
Many peoples wrote me mails and ask me, why i spend time for some non important knife problem, so throw it and buy other, wrote me.
Other peoples wrote me,good, you are fighter, and you have not fear post your opinions, go go!
So, yes, unfortunately perhaps im fighter,i live alone from my 17 years, when my parents die in car accident and when you will not, fighter, everybody can kick to you, and in addition here, in Czech ...
But ok,its life.
And when i studied Charles university here, college of law, here in Prague, i have not easy time, so you learn very fast what fight is.But sorry, i will not pester here with my personal things...
So, and in addition, i know money value, and when i buy something brand, something no cheap and its bad, i will not shut up, its all.
If my messages here haywired you,i will not apologize for that, because im satisfied, that its true.
Or delete this forum, at the end,its Spyderco web ...

I wish you all good
Simona

BTW: and i forget write ,my real name is Simona, so you musnt write my name in "" ...,thank you.

only little notice,be sure Sal, that here in Czech almost nobody believe what state government do,but this case is different thing, have not nothing common with some state department.
But its not important notice.

I will not stumble you, but i can understand, you must sale bilion knives, its important, and when some non important customer, who buy only one knife, get bitter feeling of it, its not important, and in addition, some unknown cow from Czech Republic...
But im used....
I mean, all finished today morning, when i got money back in shop, but bitter feeling stay only.

Barefoot

I am sure Sal would be happy to find that he had sold a billion knives and somehow I wouldn't suspect that he thought you were a Chech cow!

I hope you will continue to visit and read the forum - and I think you will find out that Sal has no "unimportant" customers. I wonder just how many "unimportant" customers the president of a company would personally respond to?

It is hard for us to understand that the problem you have described could actually have occured - if there is one case of a knife having the faults you describe, there should be others, especially those that were made in the same batch. Also, this particular problem has not shown up as a topic on this or other forums in the past.

What was it that first caused you to check blade hardness? Were there - are there - other things about the knife that don't seem quite right? Enough that you considered the knife suspect? I wonder if your knife could be counterfit? I wouldn't expect that, but could that be the case?

I am curious about your language skills. It seems that you have much better comprehension of our written language than the ability to write. Of course I have to admit that I would be at a total loss to understand your language, written or spoken. You are lucky to have been able to learn a second language - many would not understand the advantages of that, no matter what the language.

I do hope this difficulty gets resolved to your satisfaction - I am sure that this is not a personal issue with anyone here.

Chuck

Hi Simona,

Certainly you are important as are all of our customers. Spyderco is not such a large company that we sell billions of knives. Every customer is important. My presence here would also indicate that our customers are important to us.

I appreciate the kind words that you spoke of our designs. I designed the Endura and always appreciate comment, good or bad.

I imagine it's possible that the knives are faulty. Certainly no one is perfect. I am saying that it is unlikely because of all of our own testing. As I mentioned, If you could get the knives to me for testing, We would be pleased to test them here. I would certainly want to know if such a problem exists. I would also make sure that you received good knives + reward for your efforts to let us test such faulty pieces.

Rc49 is very low for a blade (closer to lock Rc). Rc55 is also low.

To have such a spread from 49 to 55 to 60 would be most unusual.

Please try not to be bitter. We appreciate your comments. In the end, it is the truth that we all seek, right?

If these knives do prove to be such a low Rc, then it would be the first time in 20 years. I would still be the first one to apologize to you for our error.

We are no longer making Enduras and Delicas with ATS-55, as we have swithced to VG-10 for those models.

I will dig out some of the older pieces here and test those, but my real preference would be to test the same pieces that you tested.

All in all, thank you for visiting the Spyderco forum and we hope you continue to visit. I would request that you refran from accusing Spyderco of being a fraudulent company. We have a good repuation and have never before been accused of being fraudulent, which is intentionally deceitful.

sal
