Where are the HAP40 reviews?
I am waiting for the D4 but am amazed at the lack of use and testing reports from the Endura sprint. What's up with the steel folks?

Re: Where are the HAP40 reviews?
Here is my review:
It's an Endura.
I like Hap40 quite a bit. It takes a keen edge and has good edge retention. Easily sharpens up on the Sharpmaker.
I like the clad... I don't have to worry about corrosion in the pivot area.
The burnt orange color is, in my opinion, one of the best FRN colors Spyderco has ever produced.
I liked the whole package enough that I am also now waiting for the Delica after having tried the Endura.

thanks captnvegtble. I am curious to hear more feedback on the edge retention edge stability of this steel. I am also eagerly awaiting the Delica!

I too want more details, how does it compare to other steels, what have you sharpened it with, what have you cut with it?

Yup, I'm curious to hear someone who has experience with m4 give their thoughts on hap40. I guess I can do that when I finally get my hands on a Delica. :)twinboysdad wrote:I too want more details, how does it compare to other steels, what have you sharpened it with, what have you cut with it?

If I hear "caffeine junkie" right, he got more cuts before dulling than with s110v?
Re: Where are the HAP40 reviews?
Initial sharpness or thickness behind the edge could be a factor there (I didn't watch video, but these two things are generally true, and, since there's not a S110V delica, they are variables worth noting).twinboysdad wrote:If I hear "caffeine junkie" right, he got more cuts before dulling than with s110v?

Interesting. I like the color a lot.
Bacon. Sometimes beer, but mostly bacon. I like Spydercos.

Re: Where are the HAP40 reviews?
Sorry no real 'review' but I have started putting mine to work.
My knife came super sharp from the factory and I have not had a need to sharpen yet. Fit and finish on my knife is pretty good. The only small issues with mine are a slightly off center when closed (this is the first spyderco I've had the issue with, and after reading about it on threads I always scoff and say to myself that I would not be bothered, it doesn't effect performance, etc..., well I'm struggling to make myself not care.) The second small issue is the backspacer is very slightly proud of the scales. Again, small issue that in no way effects performance but i can't say the fit and finish are 'perfect'.
I agree with captnveg this is among my favorite frn colors ever.
As far as the steel...so far it's great. Not a lot of heavy use yet but I've stripped a fair amount of wire this week, carved a pumpkin last week, sharpened a pencil a few times, cleaned up some rough edges on PVC, and so far no signs of dulling or chipping. I did get a very slight patina almost instantly from the pumpkin! Other than that, it's an Endura, and it had been a while since I've had an FRN version and this has reminded me just how great the frn knives are. Thanks again spyderco.

Re: Where are the HAP40 reviews?
Sorry for the delayed response.
I haven't used my Hap40 Endura much... mostly cutting envelopes and cardboard boxes open, but I did carve wood with my Hap40 Endura a few days ago, and I was impressed with its edge retention. I don't have any M4 knives to compare to, but it seemed to hold a better fine edge (in my limited experience) compared to S110V (which I've also had limited experience with). Certainly better than VG10. It also takes a very nice edge... on par with VG10.

I didn't pre-order one, but grabbed one from Blade HQ a couple weeks ago after the first wave passed me by. I hate the uncertainty with pre-orders.SpeedHoles wrote:Yep... but still waiting on my "preorder" Endura from KW! ...so much for preorder getting me one soon.
