I've been eagerly looking forward to the Shaman ever since I held the proto at the Blade Show in 2014. Can't come soon enough! :D

I cannot believe that somebody was able to pry Shaman out of your hands. You should run faster. :D

But I did try to run, Roman. It just so happens that Michael Janich is faster than me. :p

Wish it had a Ball Bearing Lock or Caged Ball Bearing Lock. The Compression Lock is my favorite, but I was brought up to not squeeze the Shaman. :p

Ouch! That shows what TV propaganda can do to you ;) I was "brought up" to smoke "Kent with the Micronite [asbestos] fiter" etc :(

You are younger and taller. Should put more time and efforts in training. Who knows, what proto you will be able to hold on the next Blade? May be Rhino. :)

That is a good point. ;) I really need to increase my exercise regimen. My doc says my cholesterol is "too high" and I need to lose 10 lbs, yada, yada. Ah well. As long as I can *maybe* outrun Michael, we should be good. :p

I just noticed it will be available in full spyderedge as well. I like a full SE but only if it's FFG or close enough as the Shaman is.

This may be one of the few that I'll get in SE as well as PE because I think the contoured handle is much needed for an SE blade, at least for what I use them for, mainly cutting brush along trails, around the edges of my yard, etc. With a sharp cornered handle, hot spots can develop pretty quick.

PS -- congrats on the 1000th post :D

And, in Blade HQ's vid, Eric confirmed the high saber grind. I want that!

Hi folks, looks like the Shaman will be dropping very soon! I was looking at pics of it and noticed something that I didn't catch while handling the prototype last April:

Image

To me, that hump of blade sticking out near the pivot looks very similar to the one on the original Paramilitary (1) - an "issue" that was fixed in its CQI evolution to the PM2. Maybe I'm being overly "observant" here, but I kind of wish that had happened here too. :o :)

I noticed that too, Paul. It doesn't necessarily bother me, but like you mentioned, I wonder if this feature will get CQI'd down the road. If I recall correctly, I believe the prototype Shaman I held at the 2014 Blade Show did not have this feature. (Although, I believe that prototype was a Lock-Back vs. Compression Lock). Either way, I can't wait to get one. Been waiting a long time for this model. :D

Hi guys, it's definitely not a deal breaker for me, just something I noticed when I was looking at the mid-year supplement. :)

I am little more concerned about the bottom of the ricasso sticking out too far into the compression lock area. Didn't notice it until now. Holding the compression lock while closing the knife one handed, looks like a finger may interfere with closing of the blade.

That is weird...I wonder if the final version will be like that or if this is just an early photo from before the tweak.

If only this would have a backlock and FRN handles..
Has anyone ever heard suggestions of this possibly coming out in FRN/FRCP if it's popular enough?

I'm with you 100% here. I really don't like the compression any more. The darn pinch. I do love back locks and FRN, and that knife looks beautiful.

Haha, I've never really had much issues with the pinch and the comp lock is a favorite when backlocks don't count but I really prefer the blade retention of the backlock, to me it's as much of a safety issue to keep the blade closed as it is to keep it open..
Backlocks with FRN are the best way to go, nothing better for a good user. :)

I'll bet your finger tip will "flow" around the protrusion from the ricasso when opening the lock and you won't even notice it after awhile. Personally I like that extra nub of a finger guard, but a little of it could be ground off pretty easily and the absence probably wouldn't be noticed (I hope they leave that up to the owner and don't go ahead and do it in production.)

https://images.knifecenter.com/thumb/15 ... 229GPn.jpg

As for the lock, I like all types of spydie locks except 2 or 3 of the RILs that are specially hard to get to left handed like the Cricket and maybe the Gayle Bradley.

Edit: ...and maybe a couple of liner locks that don't encourage left-handed use... the Draper and Hungarian? But it wouldn't be a deal breaker.
