Finally a Bushcraft UK in my hands :)

#1

Post by KnOeFz »

Ever since I first held one at the Amsterdam meet many moons ago I wanted to own a Bushcraft UK.
Never held a knife in my hands that felt more natural and comfortable.

The stars all aligned to make me have sufficient funds, the right state of mind and the right deal under a mouseclick

A Bushcraft UK factory seconds with the beautiful spalted maple burl handles. A crack that the previous owner fixed.
With a beautiful JRE dangle sheath to carry comfortably during my wood hikes.

One of the previous owners scratched up the spine (on a firesteel I guess). I'll try to sand that out later but it's gonna be a user knife for me anyway. The edge appeared unsharpened by the previous owners, fixed that on my water stones and strop... scary sharp now

Great knives! I picked up a second which had a hairline crack in the handle. I repaired and refinished it- it's still going strong.

Now take it out and get it dirty!

Wow, you really made the wood shine on yours!
Did you polish that by han to get it like that?
Love the dark tone in yours, but mine's not bad either :)
I'll get it dirty soon enough, hope to see a nice patina forming with use over time.

Made some tea out in the woods with the Bushcraft UK this afternoon.
Batonned it through a piece of beechwood, made some nice thin curls to start my fire, loaded my stove and lit the thing up with my firesteel.
Worked like a charm... tea tastes so much better this way! Too bad the weather didn't contribute to the fun as it started to rain while I was prepping for my fire :(

Some quick cellphone pics:
