I am having this issue now as well. I defintly have the spydie bug. Should my next be my first PM2 digi camo with dlc blade or the gayle bradley 2?? So hard..I am really leaning towards the PM2, but both are such sexy knives.

Get one of the HAP-40 knives. I have a Delica in HAP-40 and it is awesome!

Not 100% sure but, I do know there are some left though and that there is a discount code available that reduces the listed price by 40%.

Also welcome to the forum Masauce :)
Happy to be part of this great forum and group of down to earth spyderco addicts, Thanks Sal and gang.

Spydergirl brought a knife on my radar which now troubles me: the Techno.

Why am I troubled? Well, because I want to have just one spydie of each blade steel, and I already own the CTS-XHP Chaparral. Which is a really great knife (it's my home use EDC), feels good in my hand, looks really nice, and is of a perfect quality. But there is one thing that in my personal opinion could be better: the blade thickness. I like thicker blades.

The Techno's blade is 4.5mm (0.177") - that's what I call a manly blade....

Besides, I am now owner of a K2 which has titanium scales, just like the Techno does. And I happen to carry around my K2 with me in my other pocket when I'm at home all the time, because it feels so yummy. Not sure if I would not prefer titanium scales on my home EDC over the carbon fiber G10 laminates... :o

What would you do? There can be only one (XHP blade knife in my collection).

So... Cruwear was on my must-have list for a long time. And when I first noted the KC exclusive Manix 2 with nice carbon fiber handles and Cruwear steel, instantly I was thinking "That is a nice knife"... I do own a S100V LW Manix 2, but I was never completely in love with it, mostly because of the FRN handles, and the missing weight - it just doesn't feel right to me. The carbon handles of my Chaparral however, combined with the steel liners - smooth....

I was tip-toeing around the KC exclusive Cruwear Manix for many many weeks now. Basically I was expecting that it would be sold out any day, but it didn't. That's a sign. I'd hate myself if I wouldn't get it, now that it has been waiting for me for sooo long. :D Plus, it is quite affordable for such a great design and with a true premium steel. And I can trade in my S110V for a good price here in Germany, not having to pay on top that much for the Cruwear Manix. Oh, and it leaves the S110V spot open again - a nice chance to bring a Milli into my small collection.

Giving my notorious budget problem, I guess I will be lucky to add 3 spydies to my collection in 2017. Manix 2 Cruwear, Milli S110V, Police 4 K390. That will bring me to 15 spydies (15 different models) with 15 different steels. :) Oh, and a sharpmaker that is on its way to me. That is a good plan. What do you think?

Cheers,
Michael

PS: If I'm really really lucky, depending on the price, I'd go for an LC200N Caribbean Salt, too. What a sweet design!!

Sold my S35VN PM2 right after the gorgeous 20CV PM2 arrived.

Tonight I'm gonna sell my MT34, and I have just placed an order for a MT22 RWL34. To replace S35VN should be not such a hard task.

Count remains at 18. I stand prepared for the DISCO'D list. :) Or if there's no opportunity there, I may jump the gun on a Chef before the end of the year. I just wonder if Maxamet will really ever return........

I don’t know if you consider the compression lock as a type of liner lock or not but if you don’t then I would definitely recommend either the Para 3 or the PM2, and you can pretty much pick your poison when it comes to the the variety of steel with either of those models.
Just a man with a plan and a knife in hand.

My knives: Para 3 S110V (customized), Para 3 M390, PM2 S110V, Manix 2 CPM 154/S90V, Dice, Rubicon, Vrango, Native 5 CPM 154/S90V, Manbug ZDP-189, Ladybug, Chaparral LW, Kizer Megatherium

For this year, my Spydie hunt is over, unless they terminate additional models. I'm quite happy already!

The year started with a big purchase (Advocate), then nothing for a loooooong time, then the V-Toku Endura. Then I sold my S35VN PM2 and replaced it with the really nice 20CV version. :) Which put S35VN on my hunt list again. Following my rule I sold my 20CV Mule Team, and have instead a RWL34 MT incoming. Now my lightweight ZDP189 Stretch is on sale and will be replaced with a (imho) more handsome Stretch2 G10 version, and a beautiful O-1 Bushcraft will finally bring my count up to 19. Not too bad, I'd say!!

Some planned purchases are still planned (Maxamet Para3, LC200N Spydiechef, some 52100 beauty), some opportunities were missed (SuperGold Spydies from Massdrop, SuperBlue Calypso jr, Rex45 Millie will now most likely be unaffordable), and several super rare steels (3V, 4V) are being dreamt of. 2019, here I come!

Well there you go. Thanks to the monster discount offered by KC, and the kindless of my preferred eBay seller who accepted to offer the knife to me at KC price (but with $10 less for shipping), I have another :spyder: incoming.

And by the end of 2018, I'll be at 20.

2018 Over and Out - this time FOR REAL!

The Slysz Bowie XHP is in my pocket at home almost every day. It's pretty darn close to perfection.

During office hours, I carry and enjoy the Urban. Light, legal, cuts well, inconspicuous - perfect for the occasion.

When I'm outside (I live in the city) I rotate several bigger knives that I carry concealed, plus one smaller slipjoint model, either the UKPK or the Pingo, which I don't hesitate to draw when I need to cut something. The combo with the most pocket time would be the Pingo plus the Southard Folder.

If you were asking for a steel performance review, I'm not the right person to ask. I'm a townie, mostly cut boxes or plastic packaging, or occasionally some fruit while we're on a family mission. I doubt any of the better steels would fail here.

So far I only needed to resharpen 3 or 4 knives. Don't even remember which ones. I succeeded with all, at least to my self set probably rather low level of perfection & sharpness.

I collect steels not to be able to make a scientifically sound ranking, but for the collecting fun part. I know I'm a nutcase, but I think I'm not alone here. :)

The Spydiechef has the LC200N spot reserved, just need to find a good opportunity. Not in 2018 though.
