At least 2... a full-size PE (i.e. Military) and a decent size SE (i.e. Tasman Salt).

Sometimes also a more people-friendly option like the CF Sage 1.

The Pacific Salt may replace the Tasman Salt as the go-to SE blade, but that's to be determined... Tho it's nice also having a hawkbill on hand; it's a useful tool, like having a large claw.

Without listing them all here, there are some other items that are worth considering as well...

Good plan.

FYI as a huge dog lover, this is not a new topic for me. The most effective solution I've found to protect your pup from loose dogs is a small marine-grade air horn. Completely harmless, scares the dog away, can even break up a full red zone fight.

It's barely larger than a D-cell battery. Get this specific one, it's marine grade, not the toy party store ones. (tip: very loud, use only when actually required). Here's this specific one on Amazon - http://amzn.to/1DQwrTo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

2 or 3 ... or 4
Monday thru Thursday it's usually a Caly 3 CF clipless in RFP, plus the ever present Alox Cadet in RRP ... then it's sometimes also a Manbug, Jester, or Ladyhawk in change pocket, and sometimes a traditional slip joint in LFP, and sometimes both.
M-Thurs after work, Friday's, and Weekends: Caly gets replaced by PM2, Sage, Worker, or whatever else is in the rotation, clipped in RFP ... If camping / hiking, add a fixed blade.

I have two on me at all times (front right pocket and front left pocket) and three if my pants/shorts has a watch/coin pocket, as I'll drop a Manbug or Ladybug in there.

Two to three

Always a SAK Pioneer or Farmer LFP
Always a 3-4 inch PE Spydie RFP

I have been experimenting with a Native 5 SE in waistband for the last 2 months, and it works so well that it has become the norm to carry it as a backup.

Favourite Spydies: Military, PM2, Shaman, UKPK
Others: Victorinox Pioneer, CRK L Sebenza 31, CRK L Inkosi

Mostly its just one for me, usually a delica, PM2 or one of 2 other brands that shall remain nameless, but sometimes il throw in a SAK pioneer as well.
As the spydie hold grows stronger and stronger the 2 nameless brands dont see much pocket time now although both are decent and well thought of knives.

Usually 3. Usually one fixed blade (Ronin 2, 511 Tactical wharnecliff, or a Kabar Wharnestalker. The latter 2 are in custom leather sheaths). Usually a Microtech DOC or Tatanka in RF pocket. Typically one of the bug series on my keychain.

On me ... two, a Ladybug on my keychain and whatever knife is in the rotation on the day is in RFP.

But as Deacon says, I'm surrounded by sharp stuff :
Truck glove compartment : Multitool, SE Aqua Salt, PE Endura
Motorbike top box : Atlantic Salt
Laptop bag : Multitool
Office keys / access card bundle : SAK Mini Champ
Office desk drawer : Kershaw Leek as my letter opener
Study desk : at least 3 knives in various drawers
Night stand : whatever came out of my pocket the previous day and I think there might be a small fixed blade in there as well

I was down to 2 for awhile until I let someone use my H1 SE spyderhawk and saw him hit a steel been with it. Now I carry 3. 1 PE, the Spyderhawk, and a beater native 5 SE.

Most work days I carry around 5. Not even close to trying to compete with Doc Snubnose :). My workplace has a no-weapons policy, so I can't carry a gun, but my knives are just tools, right? Texas allows up to 5.5" blades.
Left front pocket has Fisher space pen, Fenix E05 flashlight, small magnifier and Hawkbill Ladybug Salt SE.
RFP has key fob, and often a Delica, Native 5, or similar size.
Watch pocket has Dragonfly Salt.
Caly 3.5 in waistband.
RRP usually has Military, Yojimbo 2, or similar, today it's a fluted Ti Native 5.

I may need to give up the in-waistband carry knife if I decide to carry a handgun there.
Which Knife, A or B? get Both! (and C, D and E) :)

Yep. Man uses tools, it's a good thing. :-)

Yep, and it's finally statewide with knife preemption passed this legislature!

No need unless you really want to, plenty of other carry options. ;-)

2&1/2, usually my G10 N5, always LBHB on keys, the half would be my G10CF dog tag, I really like the look of it, so it's basically jewelry, I've never cut anything with it...but in a pinch, it'd be there.

Well a lot really. I have a Manix 2 in some variety on me. A leatherman in my EDC bag soon to add a spyderco ZDP Dragonfly 2 Brithish Racing green (just ordered) to the EDC bag. A hand axe in the truck and a knife I designed with MS J. Neilson in the glove box. Razor Knife in the tool bucket as well as a chisel knife combo also made by J.
