I just need a little push...

So, if I love my Sage 3 and my Chaparral, it's a no-brainer that I need a Sage 1 right?

Help me out people, I'm feeling like I've overspent on knives a lot lately, but the Sage is calling to me!

My personal vote would be to get another Chap! Save up for the stealth Ti one (version 2), it is SO sweet! :D

I kinda dig the CF scale texture though.

The stepped Ti Chap would really do it for me, but again with the overspending problem :(

Do you have a Bradley folder? It has the same CF, and is much cheaper than the Ti Chap and on par with the Sages. The GB2 is also due out soon too, and will have this style CF. Of all the CF styles Spyderco uses, I like this version the best probably. Either way you can't miss :)

I think you need to talk Sal into making a Chaparral with the sage 3 bolt action lock!

Go for it. It's a splendid EDC.I was and still am a Delica fan but lately my Sage1 almost replaced my ZDP Delica in my daily carry.Great ergos, good looking, perfect F&F, Taichung quality.Very thin behind the edge, terrific slicer :spyder:

If I was you I'd look into a Schempp Bowie given that you already have a Sage. The peel ply carbon fiber and brass bolsters go so well together, especially in person. It's truly a great large-ish gentlemans folder. I like my Ti Damascus Delica and several others in said role (Chaparral especially), but the Schempp Bowie is even better in my own personal opinion. It would also add more diversity (And therefore carry options) to your collection.

I have had my eye on the Bradley, but I imagine that it has the same size in-pocket as a Stretch, which is a bit too big for my everyday regimen. The Schempp is very intriguing, but I'm not sure about the profile and it's also just a bit on the big side.

The GB Air in your pic. is definitely on the list too, but no pocket clip makes it less suitable for my work situation, as there are keys in my right pocket all day, banging around with any non-clipped knife.

Now if I had just won the lottery, I'd be ordering them all!

well, it's done... nice clean used one off ebay, good ending price, great pics and perfect seller feedback, so I have confidence that it'll be a good one.

As a bonus my CC reward points got me a Sharpmaker! I have lots of stones and have sharpened freehand since I was in grade school, but for "free" I will certainly give it a try.

...now about that Caly 3 CF?

See, SAD (Spyderco Acquisition Disorder) *is* contagious!

the one you grabbed off BF looked great too, but I would have had to recover my account and then connect with the seller, I figured it would be gone by then... plus a new one is $114 at one of the standby E-tailers.

Let me know what you think, I imagine that the Sage 1 will sum up the features I love in the Sage 3 and Chaparral, but with a liner lock (read: I'm gonna have this one in my pocket for several weeks before I start to wonder what I'll choose tomorrow morning).

***is it really going to be in the US in under a week?? usually Canada post to USA addresses is a week or more!

I really like the Sage 1, but I think I like the 3 even more. The only thing I miss about the 1 is the open/pillar construction vs. the solid backspacer on the 3. I wonder if you could swap in some standoffs in the 3...hmm..

Military, your welcome.
On my radar: 110V Military, Police 4 and some sweet Rex 45 Military action.

Newest Spydies: S90v Ti Military, Pacific Salt and a special Kiwi.

*maybe* some day, but for now the Manix 2 meets my requirement for a heavy duty folder... If I need a larger, stronger blade than that I go for one of my fixed blades.

Sage is here, first impression was of how light it felt, next was how shiny the polish on the liners is (not brushed/ground like the Chaparral).

In short, it perfectly splits the difference between the Sage 3 and Chaparral, plus it's as smooth opening and locking as my Nilakka, that is to say as smooth as liner locks can be.

As predicted, it'll take quite some time to kick this one out of my pocket!
