Custom Ulize by CuScaDi

I was given permission via Facebook to post these pics here. Really excellent looking scales, combined with the stonewash job really transform this model. The scales are distressed micarta. I'm posting this on my phone by uploading the pics so hopefully this looks right.

Thought the plan for this one was aftermarket serrations. That still possible or did you go another direction?

Oh, this isn't my knife, I was just impressed with how it turned out so I asked to post the pics here. The guy I spoke with about serrations doesn't think he can do a Spyderco pattern on a recurve so that idea sort of fizzled. He can do a single size serration pattern but I kinda want it to look factory. Still undecided.

Very nice! Luke and his dad do great work! Always love me some Micarta too! I have a Millie in OD green canvas Micarta from them as my main EDC Millie, such an amazing scale material! Giving it the Anso treatment undoubtedly makes it that much better!

That's very impressive, David. Calls to mind some sort of fossilized prehistoric sea creature part :) I've always liked the Cuscasi "Dr. Jones" treatment, similar but not as extreme, stone washed with antiqued olive drab canvas micarta scales. I like the Dr. Jones Tenacious, and now they have some Dr. Jones Delicas. I think the treatment you posted and the Dr. Jones would look good on a Manix and maybe even a Yo 2.
K-390 on hand: Mule Team 17, Police 4 G-10, Endela (burlap micarta), Endela backup, Endura (canvas micarta), Straight Stretch (now blade-swapped with G-10 Stretch), Delica Wharncliffe, Dragonfly Wharncliffe, & Dragonfly Wharncliffe shorty mod
Note to self: Less is more.

Amazing, I've never seen distressed micarta before, and with that stone washed blade it make the knife look old and we'll used.
Happy to be part of this great forum and group of down to earth spyderco addicts, Thanks Sal and gang.

I think Viper does Micarta handles like that. Very sexy looking IMHO.

Drool

That is beautiful! I've wanted a Ulize since buying (and not really liking) a Police 3. The scales are just great!

The only down side I can see is they probably make the handle thicker, and being really thin is one of the defining characteristics of this knife. Still I may have to order these scales, it just takes this knife to another level.

I have similar Cuscadi scales on my PM2:

They are very nice, but quite a bit more flexible than the stock g10.
