It is a PM stainless steel :

- http://www.e-tokko.com/eng_original_list.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It is similar to S30V, less Vanadium, more Molybdenum, thus less abrasive wear resistance, but higher maximum hardness and significantly stronger secondary hardening and corrosion resistance. Fallkniven use it a lot.

If you want something a little more abrasion resistant than ATS-34 but find the jump to S30V to be too high then SG is a nice choice. It is also called SGPS and it is called 3G by Fallkniven when it is clad with VG-10.

So, steel aside, do we have any news on G10 Delica/Endura ?

Until we come up with a steel, it's on hold.

Hi Sal, maybe you could give XVC11 a try? Might be nice to have a M4-like steel with stouter SS liners and the G10 scales (hopefully still blue). Cheers, Radioactive :)

I was excited for SG, mainly because it was another stainless option. I strongly prefer stainless, but I'm down for any new Delica.

You Delica fanboys have me so close to buying one.
On my radar: 110V Military, Police 4 and some sweet Rex 45 Military action.

Newest Spydies: S90v Ti Military, Pacific Salt and a special Kiwi.

I'm so ready for the G10 versions. I'll take VG-10 no problem. As far as alternative steels there's Cowry, SuperBlue, and now HAP40 which have all been thrown out there in previous threads.

If demand for G10 Delica/Enduras continue, how about make the VG10's standard production then create sprint steel models in the future.

I'd take the boutique steel excitement down a bit, as witnessed by the recent prices on Japanese G10 backlocks (VG10 Worker, and ZDP Stretch), a specialty steel may give us all the sticker shock. That being said, I'm ready for whatever

Realistically, it is an "afi" model. Few regular knife buyers will not have the interest when measured against the cost. With this in mind, I would like to create a model that serves the "afi" market. I can certainly make a decision and run with it, but since the forums are the closest I get to the knife afi market, I'd like opinions, at least among the steel knowledgeable. Since it will be a sprint, there will be a limited number of pieces available and once they're gone, they're gone.

If XVC11 is indeed the Japanese equivalent of CPM M4, then it gets my vote.

Super Blue would be great as well, especially because it is already a proven steel that many people enjoy.

My request would be anything stainless, although it seems like almost all of the specific suggestions are non-stainless.

If this is going to be an "afi", exclusive model, then it should have a wire clip with tip up right/left carry, a pointy tip and a pure SB or HAP 40 blade :)
Currently enjoying Spyderco's in - S30V, VG10, Super Blue, Cruwear x4, CTS XHP, S110V x2, M4 x3, S35VN, CTS 204P x2, S90V, HAP 40, K390, RWL34, MAXAMET, ZDP 189, REX 45

I am open to afi steel, but please NO MORE clads. Solid slab no matter what. I am grateful for the SB series but can only think how much solid SB would have improved the design

Agreed. I want solid SB or at the very least a different laminate that doesn't scratch so easily.

Upgrading to a Ti ATR once I sell my stainless ATR :)

I too would buy the heck out of full SB but the M4 equivalent sounds like a good idea since new is always fun.

Xvc11 sounds interesting and it seems to keep coming up in conversation so there is at least a little interest. I would buy one for sure, doesn't matter to me if it is laminated or not. :)
