New Knife....What's in the box?

What paperwork should I expect in the box with my new Manix 2
It actually came with nothing. Seems a bit strange.

Mine came with the info on Cru-wear. All of my spydies came with a little piece of paper with some info though. Where did you buy it? Where do you live? Some stores open and check all boxes, I'm in Canada so sometimes customs opens them up. Perhaps it just fell out and got lost?

I'm in the UK. I guess it could have been lost in transit.
I'm going to email the vendor and ask them why there's no paperwork.

I've had a BNIB police 3 g10 come with no paperwork from Bladehq and I'm in the US.

I have a Manix 2 LW coming from KnifeCentre, perhaps that will give me an overall idea of what to expect. From what you say dubya3, it's not cut and dried. Anyway, the knife is fantastic and I'm well pleased to be part of the Spyderco family.

The pattern I see is that most regular production models do not come with paperwork, but most sprints do. There are exceptions.

This.

My Stretch2 and PM2 were the only ones to come with paperwork, I believe. The Matriarch2 came with a warning about not using it for EDC.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Some models come with nothing but the knife, in a baggie, resting on a piece of foam, in the box. While some models also have a general Edge-U-Cation pamphlet packed in with them and some have a model specific Edge-U-Cation pamphlet. Base (standard) models of in house designs are the least likely to have literature.

Who did you buy it from? By the way, how have you got on buying from the US, any UKBA problems?

In the UK I bought from Tactical-Kit, the US one is from Knife Centre. The US one hasn't arrived yet, but I don't anticipate any problems, except the usual customs delay and payment. Shouldn't be any issue with UKBA, it's not illegal to import normal knives, only flick knives and their like.

True in theory, but there are reports of normal locking folders being seized as "gravity knives".

That's odd, my matriarch 2 came with the usual edge-u-cation paperwork with a little insight to the design and warranty information but didn't come with the warning yours did.

Edge-u-cation sheets are sort of random.

They decided a couple of years ago to start making them for all new knives. The older knives, they are going back and writing sheets for them, but no one is doing it full time.

Unless you're getting a model that just came out, I would expect maybe 50/50 on getting an Edge-u-cation sheet. The Manix 2 was introduced... maybe 2008-2009 ish. It seemed to be just coming out when I started paying attention.

1. A knife, in either a folded over plastic baggie, a sealed plastic baggie (usually Taichung), and maybe sometimes a bubble baggie?
2. A thin piece of foam.
3. Variously: nothing, or folded printed edge-u-cation sheet, or glossy full-color pamphlet.

As long as #1's in there I'm happy!

Ok, that sounds familiar but the box isn't handy so I can't check.
